Here is what I used to add an aux input so the wife could use Pandora and iHeart Radio with her iPhone 5.
Bought everything off Ebay. Was cheaper than Amazon.
I wanted to install on the flat corners just above the shifter but no space.
I wanted to install to the left of the 12V and right of the 110V but no space.
I wanted to install in the lower triangle area between the HVAC and fan and fan and the temp but no space.
I saw someone posted theirs above the AC button and to the right of the airbag light.
I grabbed the blue/white wire for the 12V and the brown for the 0V on the harness. I tried to use those blue "taps" but the supply wire for the iSimple was too small.
I cut the wire about 1-2 inches from the radio plug and used a 6" section of stranded #16 as en extension. Using closed end connectors to connect one end of the #16 and the wire from the plug. The other end I connected the power wire from the iSimple and the harness. Repeated for the 0V wire. There is not enough slack to connect all 3 in one connector. I did cut off the second connector of the iSimple power wires.
I used a sharp spade bit for the two holes to drill.....slowly. I drilled from the back until the point went thru. I then drilled from the front. This way I knew the hole would be in good condition on the face side.
This is used to hook up an iPhone 4
Will need this antenna adapter.
Since she has the iPhone 5, this assembly is not needed.
Overall view.
Yes, the cover for the 110V outlet is missing. I removed it sometime ago so the iPhone power cube would fit.
Yes, the small cover is missing from the shifter unlock button.
When the car went in for body work the cover never came back.
Up close view.
