2003 vibe 1.8l auto will not start.

Post by skbpauly »

Pulled the starter, it tested fine. Installed new battery, still won't start. Fuses are good. Thinking of replacing ignition control module but I'm not sure where it is located. Any advice is appreciated.

If you've worked on the starter, I'd assume it's not even cranking. I wouldn't suspect ignition yet.

Did you pull fuses and check them with a continuity tester? Double check fuses AM2 15A and MAIN 30A.

Check the ignition switch and transmission neutral/park switch, or clutch switch if you have MT. Check the ST relay in the junction block under the dash. You may need a wiring diagram and may need to jumper over ('hot wire') some of these to check them out.

As far as I know, this car's ignition control is done by the ECM. Worry about that after it cranks.

"Will not start" does not help tell anything about what the problem is. Need more details..... What does it do? Is it out of gas?

Also check ground wire from engine to battery, still assuming no crank.
