Popped a CV today!

Post by jayoldschool »

After a full day of wrenching on one of my project cars, I was on the way home in the Vibe. Stopped to get a couple things, then was backing out of my parking spot. Car felt like it went to neutral. Put it in 1st, it revs, but the speedo also increased. Uh oh. Immediately, I think that I've grenaded my C60 six speed that I swapped in a couple years ago. Crawled under the car. Hmm, what's this? Fresh grease on the ground, and a nice shiny CV boot clip. Looks like the passenger side CV joint expired. Had it floated home, I'll get it up on the lift at school next week. Might order both the GT and the regular axles to compare, I reused both regular axles on the C60 when I swapped it.

If I remember correctly, the correct GT axles are a bit longer than the base ones. I was looking at the dimensions on one of the parts websites.
