Due to my very sucky fuel mileage i was wondering what my fellow vibe drivers (awd, fwd, auto, and stick shift) get per tank on mileage. If you could please give me some input so i can see how far off i am and get an idea if im on the right track to resolving this problem. If ya can just put how many miles you drove on a full tank, highway, city or mixed, and your current setup. i would greatly appreciate it. thanks.
FWD, AUTO. Anywhere from 217-230 miles per tank.. when filling up at 1/4 of a tank left.Around 75% city.. 25% highway..EDIT: I lied.. Today when I filled up it was at 269 miles. I had been on the E light for around 10 miles.
The 2009-2010 vibes have a 13.2 gallon gas tank. 2004 gas tank capacity seems to be 13.2 gallons, while the AWD model has a 11.9 gallon tank. Need to really figure what your miles per gallon is. Next time you fill up, try to start being somewhat consistent on the clicking of the fuel pump. It might help to only do one-three clicks after first stoppage. Cooler temps usually will get you more gas in the tank so the time you fill up (morning/evening) makes a difference. Same station, same pump might get you more accurate. Always reset one of your trip computers to keep track of miles driven. Divide miles driven on tank by the gallons pumped. (300 miles divided by 10 gallons equals 30mpg [miles per gallon]) It also would help if everybody would add what year, engine, transmission, and wheel drive or trim level to their signatures under "My profile". This will be added to the bottom of every post you make. I also added mpg and % of driving characteristics that will need to be updated every once and a while. Should add how many minute average of warm ups I do, flat or hilly, and whether I have a light, medium or heavy foot, but I leave that to truedelta.com. Yes, I am the one killing the average mileage for the 2010 1.8 liter auto. http://www.truedelta.com/ has some good mpg information and needs more people to do it. I guess I get between 210-270 miles depending on when I fill up. I try not to drive the tank dry because the gas helps cool the pump, and I would like it to last, but I sometimes find myself pushing it.
i have been happy with 290-350miles per tank with mixed driving. I drive my car rather hard around town so between that and winter gas, the mileage has been less than stellar.5spd base model

I average about 575kms in the City in the winter with lead foot driving, usually just above 600kms in the city in the summer.I can get to 750kms by simply keeping it below 3000RPMs and driving gently, but that's extremely boring. (I've done it twice)Worst tank I ever got was 390kms, with the cruise set at 3300RPMS on a hilly highway with a high speed limit, 3 passengers, and luggage.

I average about 34 MPG, 75% city. (My daily commute has no highway miles.) So typically I hit 1/4 tank left at 320-330 miles.Driving to Austin over the holidays I got 40 MPG.

thanks for the input very much and i will check that website out and read up on it. thanks to all who have responded and to those who will respond still. seems like im far off from the average here. getting close to empty and have been driving like a grandma and barely getting close to 200 miles. has me worried a bit.
I do combo city/highway, right now I seem to get around 280 miles per tank, usually around 10 gallons to fill it. It has been cold here till recently though, I am hoping for an improvement as it warms up!!
Lately I have been getting 290 - 300 when I drive. I have a new route to work where the speed limit is 45 and traffic isnt too bad. When The fiance drives she gets about 270 -280. She dives with the AC on too much, that why I get the better MPG. Shes always hot & Im always cold.....WOMEN...they even cost you money on gas...we cant win ! LOL !I have no idea how some of you guys are getting over 300 a tank. I do eveything you are supposed to do when driving & the Vibe is well tuned. Bless those who get over 30 MPG on those 03 - 08s !

I've got a 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT (6 speed manual, FWD) and I seem to get about 240-270 miles per tank with mixed city and highway driving (probably about 70%:30%, respectively).I typically get about 26 miles per gallon but lately I've been seeing that drop to about 24 MPG. With premium gas prices where they are in my area ($3.51, which is a lot better than some other cities in Iowa), I should really be driving more conservatively to try to squeeze a few more miles out of every tank. Hopefully, with better driving habits, I could get it closer to 28.If you don't mind me hijacking the thread for a moment, may I ask what speeds you guys have noticed to be optimum for attaining good fuel economy? I've been going between 58-65 MPH on the highway and about 75-80 MPH on the interstate because it feels most comfortable and follows the flow of traffic. If there's improvement to be had by going slightly slower, I'd certainly consider giving that a shot on longer trips.

are you driving alot of city or really pushing the car? because i have a 04 1zz auto and get an average of about 300 mostly highway but alittle city also and i drive kinda hard and fast
Since I got my 2008 Vibe I've tracked every drop of gas that goes in it (I bought it with about 27K on it).29,212 miles I've put on it so far. An overall average of 28.7 mpg. I probably do 60% highway, 40% city, but my regular commute to work includes a moderate grade (5% I think) over about a mile.My average distance on a fill up is 301.2 miles, and I usually put in slightly over 10 gallons.I can't seem to figure out why I got about 7% more gas mileage the first year I owned the Vibe than the second. My commute is identical, I think my driving style is identical, and I'm filling up at the same station. I can't figure out what variable changed.

Up here with our drastic temperature changes I get 15% less mileage in the winter. But seeing how you live in Cali I can't imagine it would would make a 7% difference. In other words I have no clue All city in my 05 Base auto I get 400km in the winter and 460-480km in the summer.

That includes all seasons. And yes, we tend to have fairly mild winters.

Anybody ever wondered how far the car will keep going until the tank fully dried up and stalled at the intersection today lucky the gas station is right at the intersectionFor 2.4L engine running the conditions listed below, the reserve fuel only can last you 79 km or 52 miles09 with 2.4L engineAmbient temperature -3 CLow fuel warning light came on at 187 kmCar stalled at 266km Avg speed 40-50km/hr/stop and goClimate control setting:HotFan speed 4 (highest)I filled up with 6.78 liters into the jerry can and the low fuel light still remained on.
Just a followup on my own mileage:It's all the driver. I paid very close attention on the last four or five tanks and went easily to 32+mpg. Tighten that loose nut behind the wheel and things get dramatically better!
Just filled up & it took 11.6 gallons for 400 miles. This was 75% hwy & 25 city. Combined, I usually get 32-33 mpg.Standard engine, automatic, older driver , but still 75mph hwy
Quote, originally posted by ClunkClunk » Tighten that loose nut behind the wheel and things get dramatically better!Pretty much!!!On my commute, 100% highway, depending on how fast I go (70mph to 85mph usually) I can get anywhere from 31 to 36mpg. Fully loaded, towing a trailer in -20C with those heavy studded tires, the worst mileage I've ever had was 27mpg.Twice I've got 39+mpg by sticking to 55mph for the WHOLE tank.
It may be premature to tell but I've got bad fuel efficiency too.2007 Vibe w/ 140 000 km (86991 miles) on it.I just got it a few weeks ago and I got 11.8 L/100 (20 MPG) on the second half fill and just yesterday on my third half fill I got 10.7.Everything is A1 on the car. I had the spark plugs and filter changed just after my second fill. The MAF sensor looked clean. The belt is due but still looks good. Next week I'll have the tranny pan dropped and that belt swapped.cyth
Before turbo city: 225-240 filling up after 3/4 of a tankBefore turbo hwy: 270-320 filling up after 3/4 of a tankAfter turbo city: 240-260 filling up after 3/4 of a tankAfter turbo hwy: 350-370 filling up after 3/4 of a tank Turbo FTW!2006 AWD

2009 Auto: 330 miles to when the light comes on. 100% busy suburban driving. That leaves about 2.5 gallons still in the tank to keep the fuel pump cooled. We do have a 13.5 gallon fuel tank in the 09/10, right? When I still had the 2003 AWD, the worst mileage I ever got was around 21mpg. I was not happy with how slow and cumbersome that car was. It is now burning oil somewhere in California, but still on the road.

I can't figure it out. The car is absolutely fine and my wife and I are definitely not maniacs. Out last ride was an MPV 98 4WD that did over 20 L/100 so we learned how to drive to get the most of our tank. But the numbers speaks for themselves:http://www.fuelly.com/driver/cythraul/vibe
In that link change from US gallons to UK gallons. Same as Canadian gallons. Big difference.Try this. When your low fuel light comes on fill it up. Keep track of how many liters it took and turn your odometer to zero. When the low fuel light comes on again go fill it up again. Write down what the odometer and how many liters it took. Set the odometer back to zero. Do this two or three times. We already know that we have a 50 liter tank or 11 Canadian gallons. Everytime you fill up you will know how many liters you used by subtracting how many liters it took to fill up from the 50 liter capacity.......
