I predict that this will eventually be expanded to all - not just the ones in "cold" states. Example - a person in Toledo, Ohio (just south of Michigan) gets maimed or killed due to this "defect". The fact that GM fixed the problem in Michigan but not in Ohio is not going to play well with any jury.

Do you think this will expand to the 2.4L vibes?

I just found out about this over the weekend when I was out of town. I sure hope it doesn't expand to the 2.4L Vibes. I tried contacting that number provided for Toyota and they couldn't tell me anything because it was a "Pontiac" despite being the same car as the Matrix. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

When I brought my car in for an oil change last week, they checked for any recalls on my car ('09 GT) and found none. So, at least for now, the recall has not expanded to the 2.4L engine.

Got my recall notice today. Now the issue is figuring out when I can get it in, I'm about 160km from the closest dealer(s) and over 300km from the one I bought it from.

The recall will not expand to the 2.4L. The 1.8 brake booster picks up it's vacuum source from below the throttle body, kinda at an area where if moisture condenses it would end up and then freeze if it was cold enough. The recall moves the vacuum source to a higher point by installing a spacer with a vacuum fitting between the intake and t-body. The Acadia recall is not the same, as all we are doing is replacing two vacuum check valves with different style valve.

...OK, the Recall 09222 - Brake Vacuum Manifold recall is a "...slightly less than 2 hours..." operation, although the GM waranty 'labor time' is listed as 0.9 hours....there's the 20-page document (NHSTA document) here: http://nhthqnwws112.odi.nhtsa....2.pdf

Here's the pics! Before:After: They added a new plate after the TB.The dealer wouldn't put my vacuum gauge connection back (legal reasoning) so I have to do it.Unplug 1 line, add T fitting, add peice of old line! They routed the new line over the exhaust manifold as well.

Thanks for the great detail. I did my own today, bought parts from dealership for $44.00 and it took about 40 minutes. I live in Rochester, NY so it does get cold in winter here, I realize it would've been a freebie at dealer but I didn't wanna leave it a couple days and then pick it up full of dex-cool or some nightmare like that lol. I am an auto tech with experience, but this was a pretty basic job if you have mech. knowledge and tools!!I have an 2010 Vibe, just bought it from a high volume dealeship south of here for $11900.00, it has 28400 miles and was a prior rental but that price seemed very good compared to the used car dealers and even craigslist around here. I am gonna take it in and have the chipped paint around spoiler tsb done soon though, thanks again for the great detail and pictures!!!---Frank
