can You jack up the car in the middle so both tires could be in the air on one side???

Theoretically, yes, but most of the reinforcement points where you are to place the jack at are right near the wheels, not in the center of the car. But a guy on the Equinox/Terrain forum has a pinch weld jack adapter for his floor jack that he uses to lift up both wheels.

Looks like there are several places that sell a version listed in the thread.

FWIW, the scissor jack from my Mustang when extended all the way would raise both tires off the ground. As long as I broke all the lug nuts loose prior to jacking it up, I could rotate the tires that way. A bit shaky, but it worked.
