Oil filter wrenches that will work for 09-10 1.8 liter and others:http://www.tooltopia.com/assenmacher-toy-640.aspx Assenmacher toy 640 (asttoy640) This is possibly the "official" wrench for Toyota.http://www.asttool.com/detail_...Lexus, AST website.http://www.asttool.com/detail_...20300, set of three wrenches covers all Toyota/Lexus vehicles since 1980http://www.tooltopia.com/kd-tools-3253.aspx, This one should work according to some reviews on Amazon, but is listed as 65mm instead of 64mm. AST Toy640 is the safer bet. Eventually I will try it to see if it slips or not. I bought both through Amazon and tooltopia was the actual seller.Do not know of a converter or adapter that can use spin on oil filters.Looks like both will take off Purolator pure one pl14612, st6607,st7317, Mobil m1-108, Fram 7317, etc. (size that is on my motorcycle).

http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=38351My strap wrench would slip all the time, that's why I now use a hammer and punch... tap tap tap tap tap, then turn it by hand. I take the clip out before I start. You can go to your Toyota dealer and buy the proper tool, just remember to specify that it's for a Matrix or Corolla... arguing with Toyota techs can get tedious real fast!

I went out and bought a plastic #5 filter tool from Canadian Tire for $6 and just nutched it in four places to fit our filter housing...Toyota wanted $28 for the tool (maybe it was metal)..Unfortunatly the person who change the last filter tighten the **** out of it , so I had to use a hammet and screw driver to loosen it...I basicly just tighten it to 20 foot/ lbs by the book ..It will be easy to loosen it next time...
