"One of the photographers was out on the island taking shots of people on the sidewalk. When she was finished taking her shot she stepped off the island unaware of her surroundings and was struck by a motor vehicle coming under the bridge."Police say the driver was coming from bright sunlight into a dark tunnel."Pedestrians have to be aware of their surroundings and establish eye contact with drivers," noted Eldridge.
