Post by AKLGT »

well as some of you know, phil (mavrik) left this eve to fly back to London. he's got a long list of things to do until i arrive friday morning. as soon as i get off the plane, it's on to canada post to mail off boxgrovers crossbars he bought from me and then to take a nice nap. then saturday morning, we'll be heading out to drive back to anchorage. so far, the tentative road schedule is:sat, may 21, leave London (not exactly, but close enough) 8 am to arrive in Tobermory about 12:30, catch the Chi-chemaun Ferry and arrive in Manitoulin Island (i think) about 3:30 pm. then we drive as far as we can til about 10 pm, find a hotel and sleep.sun, may 22, leave 8 am and make our way to Winnipeg passing thru Thunder Bay.mon, may 23, leave Winnipeg, 8 am and get to Calgary approx 10 pmtues, may 24, may go to edmonton for the day or bum around Calgary area with Vibechick. possible group meet that night or weds.weds, may 25, don't really know what we'll do but may have the meet that night.thurs, may 26, if we don't go to edmonton on tues or weds, we'll go on thurs and then stay there overnight (more than likely do this)fri, may 27, leave calgary or edmonton (depending on where we're at) 8 am and start our trip up the alaska-canada hwy. hope to stop at summit lakesat, may 28, leave from summit lake and make our way to Koidern (or whatever town we make it to around 10 pm)sun, may 29, leave at 8 am and hope to arrive in anchorage about 5 pm. mon and tues relax and unwind from the long drive. we'll take stops and plenty of pics of course! lol. what else would you all expect from me?

I hope you guys are doing this because you want to see the country. That's a lot of driving! I know someone who had their vehicle shipped from Quebec to Prince Rupert, BC and someone else from Vancouver to Toronto. It was a lot simpler. Anyway, have a safe trip!

Anyway, have a safe trip! i already checked into shipping the car from TO to Anchorage. because it's going international, the cheapest was $2500 USD. we can drive it for much less, plus i think it'll be nice to see parts of the country we've both not ever seen. not to mention a quick visit to Calgary to see vibechick and the crew! can't beat that now! lol

Hey Hope, whatever night you stay in Edmonton, you & Phil REALLY need to sack out at the Fantasyland hotel: http://www.westedmall.com/stay...l.aspWhere else can you find halls trimmed in gray carpet with a dotted yellow stripe and sleep in the back of a pick up truck? (Even though I got stuck with FORD when I was last there...)

Yup - I can vouch that it's a kick, and worth stopping in for -- both the hotel and the mall itself. We spent 2 days in that mall, and just barely got to see everything - and we didn't even go to the water park.

well the fantasyland hotel is hella expensive, however the inn across the street is super cheap right now, only $59 for the night! plus, we can get the package for 2 admission to the rides, underwater adventure, marine life, and breakfast in the morning... i think that'll be the way to go. otherwise, we're looking at $170/night!

The water park is pretty fun. Make sure you go on the rollercoaster! It's crazy. When I went up there last summer, we stayed at the inn across the street. You won't be spending much time in your room anyways. Well, maybe not
