UPDATE > 2004+ Vibe front mudflaps part number available!

Post by NSimkins »

I've just received a part number for the new redesigned 2004 and up front mudflaps to accommodate the redesigned rocker molding on the 2004+ two-tone models (and 2003 models that have been replaced with the new design). The part number is: 12499885Be aware that this number has just been released and may not populate to the online parts ordering sources. It may also take a little time to get the dealer updated as well but the parts are being made and should be available to order now. This part has been redesigned to fit the refreshed rocker moldings made available on the 2004+ two-tone Vibes. [see picture here] -- until visual inspection can be made (coming real soon), I cannot guarantee if these will snugly fit the monotone cladding designs.ragingfish's master parts list has been updated to reflect the new number.

Got a chance to see the new flaps in the parking lot at my daughters school today.Color match with the lower parts looked good. They overlap the fender and front portion of the rocker panel moldings. Wouldn't call it "flush" fitting, but looks ok and that it was designned for the car it is on.Was told by the owner that the number was in his dealers June parts book update, were ordered on the 3rd, received by the dealer on the 9th.Told that install is easy. Uses two exsisting trim screws in the wheel openning, and a new longer retainer in the lower section.

will this part # fit a 04 monotone vibe? my local dealer says that is the only part # he has. you would think that they would make the mudflaps follow the shape of the body, not bulge out to accept the cladding shape. it would look weird on the car. will any other year mudflaps for the monotone fit a 04 vibe???

Just picked up the new splash guards for my 2004 monotone Vibe. Looks like GM has done it again. The guards are designed to be a part number fits all 3 models, so if you have a monotone the cut out for larger molding on the other two models show as a big void. Looks really bad. Went back to the dealer and the parts guy looked in the computer and sure enough part number 12499855 is for all 3 models with no other option. He even called the GM parts line and entered the casting part number to see if there might be other castings. . .new casting number not in database. Have to wait until Monday for him to check with GM directly. Looks like the best option for we 2004 monotone owners is to order the fronts for the 2003. Anyone else seen these ?!?!?

That's correct. The 2004 mudflaps are for two-tone owners ONLY.Monotone owners should continue to use the original design.

thanks for the info. ordered part # 12498056 from gmpartsdirect.com I guess the 5 dealers around me are clueless. they all say that the new # will fit the 04 monotones. I told them about this website and the info thats available, and the parts guys just stare at me with the nobody at home look. they say the computer says that is the correct # for the flaps. I guess computers can't be wrong.

The parts department computers all use software bought from outside companies who get the data from GM, not GM itself. Could be an error in the companies input of the updated info. This month was the first month with the listing, it will probably be corrected in next months updates the dealers get

I've got a few pictures of the 2004 design mudflaps and I've tried about 10 times, but have been unable to post the pix.

I am wondering if you have the new rocker panels why do you need the mud flaps? The panels do the same thing. Wouldn't it look kind of funny?

I have a monotone and I believe he does as well. No protection from the mud, stones and goop on this car.

Just a note, I ordered my front mudflaps on Tuesday. Use part # 12499855 not part #12499885. I overlooked this when it was posted and have been asking for the wrong part!I was told 3-4 day delivery. The parts man told me that the original part #12499885 was discontinued due to poor fit and a redesigned flap was given this new part #12499855. I have no idea if it is true.Hope this helps!

Mike is right. I picked up last years model #12498056 for my 2004 monotone yesterday and they fit like a glove! By the way, the pictures I posted are of flap #12499855. Good luck with the 3 to 4 days, it took me 10 working days. At least the flaps come in, my bumper protector has been on order since June 19.

I just got my Vibe last week and would like to add mud flaps to it. I pratically know nothing about cars, but I'd like to learn. From reading the posts about the mud flaps, and it appears that there are different front mud flaps for the monotone and the two-tone 2004 vibes.I'm just a bit confused about the proper part number that I need. Sorry if this has been discussed to death. I've read the old post and I'm still confused...12498056 - This is for the 2003 vibe, and it will fit a monotone 200412499885 - This was the original front flap for the two-tone 2004. 12499855 - This is the replacement of 885, which only fits the two-tone 2004. It does not fit the monotone 2004I've got a monotone 2004 vibe, so I'll need to get the 2003 front flaps with part no. 12498056For my last question, is it easy to install the front and rear mud flaps myself? I looked in the wheel well, and I've seen some bolts where mud flaps could be attached, but I'm not too sure. You help is appreciated.

Correct, that is the right part number for a monotone 2004 Vibe. 12498056 - Front12498057 - BackHere is a picture!Front flaps are very easy to install, about 10 minutes. The rears are easy, but you have to remove the rear wheels and drill a few holes. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Also, the directions provided for the rear flaps are incorrect. They say to drill a hole at the underside, location C in the drawing. You do not have to drill a hole. The existing holes align properly. Hope this helps!

Ok guys, really sorry to reply to a 10 year old post but GM has gone away since this post was first put online, and my local GMC dealers have not a clue...

I have a 2006 Base Monotone with rocker extensions. Which front and rear part numbers do I need for splash guards?

Were you ever able to figure this out? The 12499855 is not for the rocker extension as they have posted here, I've found them and they're not correct. The rears are the same for all up to 07, it's the fronts that are very confusing. Google images and you'll get different pics for same part#.
