Best source for aftermarket?

Post by NoviDriver »

I'm interested in adding a few things to my new GT including this:http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/r...97926Is it best to go through GM or are there other sources that are as good and cost less? Thanks!

What I meant was, unless he just wants a round one instead of an oval one, it's a moot point buying it when there's already one on there, especially for $60.00. Also, isn't the tip welded onto the actual muffler? So, it's not exactly going to be "plug and play". Just my $.02.

Oh... I've seen some tacky muffler tips around here, yes those led tips too... Apparently some people think it's cool to have a tip sticking a foot out past the bumper.Fortunatly, ugly tips and Fart Cans seem to be reserved for Hondas and Acuras.

Yeah, it's kind of cheesy looking but I was thinking it might protect the tip against corrosion. I've already noticed a spot where it looks like a bit of corrosion has started and this is a "new" car. Not sure how long it sat on the dealer lot.

I would try some sort of metal polish. It should take it right off.

Is the stock GT tip chrome? This accessory tip supposedly won't rust - but it says it is chrome. I never seen chrome that will keep from rusting for more than a few years. Stainless steel FTW!Anyway, I just put on a rolled SS tip on my 2.4. It looks good but is a bit too stealth for me. I wish I had gotten the 3.5" instead of the 3". The only way anyone will notice is when my car is a few years older and the tip will still be shiny.Novi - other sources for GM accessories are gmparts4u.com and dealerfit.comThe best way I've found is to go to one of these sites, get the part number and then enter that as a google search - then it will bring up all places selling that part.

Done have any price books handy at the moment but you probably could just get a off the shelf Borla tip for half the price at your local speed shop. And there are stainless steel and will not rust unless they are expose to hot carbon compound gasses for extended periods of time.

Found another source for parts - yourgmparts.com.They had the cheapest price for '09 splash guards, but the shipping was a bit high so my overall cost was less to order them off of ebay from "gmpartsbarn". It only saved me about $5 over what the dealer would charge but rather than see if the dealer would match the price I decided to give my business to the company that was trying to save me money day and day out.

I thought about purchasing/installing. But also thought about purchasing a GT lower valance for the rear bumper and installing it - therefore it would interfere with the rear splash guards.

That's not too bad, barely an inch past the bumper... it's symmetrical and not sticking out like a sore thumb ...Chrome on the other hand....
