Portable fridge/cooler

Post by a58vette »

Has anyone bought the portable fridge/cooler from GM. If so does it work well, and where do you store it?

Waaaay too expensive! You can usually find ones made by Igloo at truck stops (check out Pilot stores) or even discount chains like Wal-Mart. They generally run on 12V, though of course in a Vibe you can use the 110V household outlet if the fridge doesn't draw too much current. - Earl

Buy a supercharger with your GM points.Get a Koolatron for $100 that fits in the footwell in the back seats where you or your navigator can reach for a cool beverage. Ours has served us well for years. We have the AC adapter so we can enjoy a "frosty" one in the motel.

What GM points are you refering to? Are they GM mastercard points? If so, I didn't think you could use them for accessories. If I'm wrong, this would be great news for me!

I have a Vibe GT so the supercharger that is being offered will not work on my engine, Yes I am reffering to the GM Mastercard points. From what I understand they can be used on accessories.

Specifically, can they be used on accessories after you have already purchased the vehicle? I was under the impression that you could only use the GM card points for purchasing in vehicle. If you buy the accessories at the time of purchase, though, I can see how you could think of the points going towards the accessories. At least here in the U.S., there are maximum allowances of GM points you can use towards any vehicle. When I bought my Vibe, I could only use $1000, and I have another $1000 saved up as well. If I could use that for accessories, that would take me from "no, the supercharger is extravagent, I shoulnd't buy it" to "I'd like to make an appointment tomorrow"

I called GM to ask about this a few months ago and they said the points can oly be used for the purchase of your vehicle. However, a co-worker told me he was told that he could purchase accessories.

What it seems to me is that the points are for new vehicles. But it probably depends on the dealer if they can get your points to apply to an accessorie.

Ancient thread resurrection alert!!!Emerson, model ER40-2. They also make this fridge with a completly red coca-cola logo.Fits a six pack of pop. Powered by 12V or 110V. Uses 36 watts. Has a hot and a cold setting. Costs about $20-$30 for the Coke version last time I looked.
