2009 Vibe 1.8 5 Speed Questions

Post by rmacnamara »

I just recently got a 2009 Vibe 1.8 5 Speed and have a few questions about it.

When first starting it I once in a while get a grind that only lasts about a half a second to a second. I have read about the cam sprocket and a issue on the TSB. But it sounds more like a starter sticking to me. Thoughts?

Does anyone else have issues with there 5 speed trying to go slow like under 5 mph. It's the touchest 5 speed I have ever drove and I have drove many over the years.

Details on car.

2009 Pontiac Vibe
1.8L
5 Speed
110K

No prior work done to my knowledge on it.
2003 Red 5 Speed (sold)
2003 Black Auto (selling)
2004 Black Auto ( sold)
2004 White Auto AWD (wifes daily)
2006 Black GT 6 Speed (sold)
2009 Red AWD (family vehicle)

It is the bendix gear inside the Denso starter. You will hear it more and more as the morning weather gets colder. As for the other issue, I'm hamstrung with the "outstanding" Toyota 4 speed automatic, which pairs well with nothing.
