GenVibe - Community for Pontiac Vibe Enthusiasts

I have a base 2009 Vibe, 1.8, 5MT. My clutch is just starting to slip and I'm considering getting a used transmission as my 5 speed has the dreaded 3rd gear grind. I read that a 6 speed from a 2014 corolla will bolt right in and has a little taller gearing for highway cruising. I have a great local mechanic that I trust who would do the work for me. Does anyone know if my plan would work? Apart from the transmission, will I need a new shifter or any other components to make this work? Is there any reason that I'm missing that this is an awful idea?
