thinking of getting a vibe awd. opinions?

Post by fabchef »

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I currently have a mitsubishi endeavor, and thinking of changing car. My brother had the first gen of toyota matrix. Was a good car, a little anemic I found, but reliable. I like the size of the vibe and that it is available in awd. I want to know:
How do the latest year models do in the "cabin noise" department? Quiet, noisy?
Is the awd system good? Reliable?
Is it fun to drive?
How is the 2.4l engine and tranny?
Thanks
Fab

-2nd gens are slightly quieter than the 1st gens. Neither are quiet, there is very little insulation.

Is the awd system good? Reliable?
-They're reliable as long as the gear oil was changed out regularly which it seems is rarely done. I've seen a lot of threads where someone brought home a used AWD only to find it was neglected and needing repairs. Unless you have a specific need for awd or know it was well cared for, I'd stay away.

Is it fun to drive?
-I think so, light weight, reliable, cheap.

How is the 2.4l engine and tranny?
-No personal experience but Toyota used that same set up in the Camry, Corolla, tC. You don't see a lot of them sitting on the side of the road with the hood up.
