Installed a K+N typhoon on 08 Vibe, throwing codes and not happy. HELP

Post by Fatpaul »

I installed a K+N typhoon intake on my stock base model 08 Vibe 5 speed, only mods are some nice spark plugs to the motor.

I'm feeling it gasping for air in the 3400 to 5000 range. The pickup is great but it's starts to break up when floored. I cleaned the air filter and wondering if I could have possibly "caked" it with too much oil?

Any ideas of why it's stuttering when under full throttle?

Also it just threw a code, going to look into this later today. :o

With the oil type filters, you have to be very careful with ov3er oiling them or the oil gets all over the maf and can cause faulty readings.

There's also your install to consider. Check and double check the installation and all the hoses. Be sure they're not only in their proper places, but also that they're connected securely.

Those are really the two biggest things offhand. Time to start problem solving. Keep us updated.

Checked all the lines, looks like a hooked it up right.

Ran the codes and it is throwing the maf sensor now. Swapped my stock maf on the intake and seems like it fixed it but after driving for 30 or so minutes it threw another code. Check on it tomorrow.

Correction: it's aftermarket

Also I'm going to autozone to buy the maf cleaner spray and clean the filter in the morning

The base model and GT have different engines, so it sounds like a compatibility problem.

Good catch, circuitsmith. Sorry to hear about that, Fatpaul, but at least you know the issue, now.
