2ZZ-GE egine replacement

Post by gaconn »

I have a new engine with 77,000 miles on it.

Does anyone have a checklist of things to remove before taking the engine out?

Do you leave the transmission on during removal?

Can you remove the engine without taking the hood off?

Thanks for any and all responses.

You can definitely take the engine out with out taking the hood off it you just unbolt the subframe and take it out from the bottom.

I would think you would need to unplug the following, its not too much stuff just remember where they all go when you try to put it back in that's the hard part

radiator/coolant lines
header
electrical items like the TPM, clutch safety switch, maf, coil pack wires

I was hoping to take it out through the hood area. The video below shows it being done. What do you think?
