To be honest i would hardly call those first two cold air intakes. I found one on ebay for the matrix that has worked perfectly with my 06 vibe. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cold-Air-Intake ... dc&vxp=mtr

It goes all the way down behind the fog light.

The intakes for 2003-2004 Matrix, Corolla, and Vibe base are all the same. 06-08 intakes are the same on base trims as well. The Matrix XR has the same intake as the base and the same engine as well, it's just a base with pretty exterior bits.

The 2003 and 2004 intakes are different from the ones for 2006-2008.

EDIT: You don't need to spend big bucks on an intake unless you need a sticker saying it's emissions-safe and they actually check under the hood.

Get a SRI, easier to install, maintain and the gains are the same. The big difference between the 03-04 and 05-08 is the valve cover breather port. On the 03-04 is built into the Throttle Body on the 05+ it's built into the intake hose. Many Used the 03-04 CAI/SRI on the 05+ by either adding a breather port to the intake or add a small breather filter to the breather hose ($10 at most Auto Part stores).
