manifold help

Post by foamy302 »

I have a 03 vibe gt that threw a bearing, replaced the engine and now the exhaust ports don't line up to the manifold, i believe the engine came from an 04 matrix XRS. Any help would be awesome

If it is indeed a 2zz, the only issue I could think of is the injection ports. 2003 was the last year for the 2zz without air injection. This is a very simple solution, buy this kit from MWR, and just tap the holes in the head, and install the plugs. http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/produ ... ts_id=2067

Also, what did you do with the last engine? If you still have it, I would love to buy it off you. I need a spare block to mock up mounting an awd transmission from a celica gt4.

So you're positive that is the problem? If so...

Remove the heat shield if it is in the way. It's really tight back there, so it will be difficult.
Get a tap handle at a hardware store if you don't already have one. Put a bit of grease on the tap, and tap the holes. The grease will prevent most of the shavings from getting in the exhaust. Then just run the plugs in, and you're good to go.

Looking back there the holes are half covered by the manifold. No problem

Half covered? The small 3/8ths air injection holes, right? Not the actual exhaust ports?

The air injection holes should be completely uncovered when you remove the heat shield.

Okay. Ya, so just take off the manifold then. Should be pretty simple.
