Anybody else ever have the dipstip tube break just under the intake manifold. Went to check the oil and half the tube came up with the dipstick. Only have 60K km on the car. Looks like it is metal fatigue. I can see were it has cracked 3/4 of the way around the edge of the crack has weathered and wore smooth from the tube vibrating. It must have broke completely recently I can see the metal is still bright and grain structure of the metal is still visible. For the time being I have slip jointed the two pieces of the tube together until the dealer opens Monday to see if it is still covered under warranty.

Mine was like that.... never broke though. It had been loose for quite a while. When I found out that it wiggled, I stopped checking the oil lever regularly to about every 3000kms.
It's a part of the engine and therefore should be covered under the powertrain warranty.
I know this is an older thread but I just found my dipstick tube is now loose. I did the oil change on it over the weekend and found the tube was flopping all over the place. It was not like that at the last oil change. Was there any resolution from the previous posters? I was hoping this would just be a broken or loose clip on the tube and kind of worried it is the tube itself based on the above posts. Any one have an illustration of how and where the tube attaches to the engine?
Seems a silly thing to break on an engine, never had this happen before on any car I've owned.
I did some searching online and found illustrations showing an attachment point on the tube approx 2/3 the way up. The way the tube moves around, I'm thinking it is the upper attachment that has either come apart or the bracket on the tube broke. When I was under the car draining the oil I looked at the tube as it entered the block and it seemed to be tight and dry. I'll take a closer look at this on the weekend.
Well, checked the tube on the weekend and it is indeed broken. Just above the attachment bracket. This is a first on any car I've owned. Seems like Toyota should have spec'd out thicker material, no excuse for a dipstick tube to break under normal use. Not even a corrosion issue as it looks fine otherwise. I wish it was easier to get at, seems the alternator is going to have to be removed to get access to it.
