over drive button not working...

Post by skeletron »

my wife removed her automatic shift knob to install some carbon fiber decals and now her over drive button doesn't work on the side of the knob...instead when you slide the shifter between park and drive the over drive light goes on and off when you slide the shifter...how do I fix this?

There are wires coming from the button that go down into the pole of the shifter.
hard to explain, when it was pulled of, the wires were probably ripped right out.
I actually did this myself when I messed with mine years ago.
The light blinking on and off at random is probably a short or a wire hitting the metal inside the pole and making the car THINK o/d is on

just my $0.02

It prob needs to pulled off again and checked out.

Hope that helps

the thing is it doesn't turn on and off randomly...it actually turns on and off when you move the shifter up and down...or if I tap the shifter up it'll turn on and off but it doesn't do it on bumps or anything...

I would say it came unplugged, but it REALLY sounds like a loose wire,

I never fixed mine, I never saw the point in it tho so it didn't matter

Will do :)

I wish I was the one who removed it so that I might have noticed why it broke lol...It's my Wife's vehicle and mine is a 2006 Tiburon GT and I have been modifying my car since 2009 and she just got the mod bug and now I get to fix her modding mistakes haha

hahaaa....awesome.lol

You should throw up some shots of the Tiburon the the "Others" section. I'm interested in seeing it.

And when I broke mine (which usually isn't how it goes) it just pulled the wires straight out.
They weren't very strong at all.

I may go mess with mine in a little bit after i grab a bite to eat.
i'm curious now
