2010 GT oil?

Post by vit »

I guess this has been covered, but my searching abilities are somewhat limited... 2010 GT - manual calls for 5W-30, oil filler cap is marked 5W-20 and 0W20.What do I use?I got a bunch of Castrol 5W-30, that's what my old 05 Corolla with 1.8L used.

I personally use nothing but Penzoil 5W-20 in our '09 GTs, but I believe others on here have said 5W-30 won't hurt anything.

I've got 82,788 miles on mine and have used nothing but 5W-20 synthetic and premium-quality Bosch or Purolator filter.

The oil fill cap was made by Toyota.
The manual was written by General Motors.

GM made the chrome logo, the OnStar system and the error filled manual.

Take your choice.

For a while I was using 5W-30, but I switched over to the 5W-20 in my '10 AWD. I've always used Mobil 1 in all my vehicles except for my diesel truck when I had it, I used Shell Rotella in that.

You should be using 5w20 on that. That being said you should be okay in the short term using your stockpile of 5w30. I am just a true believer in using what should go in there.

Car manufacturer are definitely moving towards more fuel efficient oil. Its starting to be a big market.

Thanks, tpollauf! Yes, I like the Navy Blue Metallic color code very much. Cleans up and holds a waxing nicely. I've had the car a year and have learned a lot about Vibe mods and maintenance from the good peeps on this forum. Look forward to adding more performance and appearance mods in the near future including HID headlamps, performance brakes, a Cosmo Racing SRI, tinted windows and cat-back exhaust.

At my last oil change, I bought the five-quart, convenience-sized, jug of Mobil1 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy Full Synthetic Motor Oil. It was on sale at Wal-Mart for $19.95, a price too good to pass up!
