I drove about 70 miles at 60mph on 4 lane highway then 45 miles at 65 mph on 2 lane highway, then did the reverse on the way home. 227 miles on 5.687 gallons. I made the same trip a month before I installed the CAI and averaged 33.47 mpg at the same speeds. temp going out 85temp coming home 100tire pressure 34light windI haven't driven enough city mileage to check it, but it does appear much higher than before.

thanks for posting that. i've wondered if a CAI (or an SRI) would actually boost mpgs or whether that was just hype to sell 'em, in addition to the added hp. I wonder how much an upgraded intake would help out a 2zz engine?

That is surprisingly high mileage for a US gallon and those speeds. You don't get that kind of increase just by adding a CAI. Was this using a Scanguage or by refilling your tank and crunching the numbers? The best I seem to get is 43mpg Canadian gallon at 60mph 5 speed manual.
It may not be to far off though ... I pull 46 mpg in an automatic, over a 55 mile one way commute each day. My speed is steady 55 mphIn fact the other day I tried driving the speed limit, 65mph & 70mph in other parts and the scangauge was reading 38mpg.And I have no engine mods, so I may have to look into that CAI, which is it?

I have the Cosmo CAI, about $170.00 shippng and all. my son got it for me for fathers day and he installed it with great tool handing by his old man. I filled the Vibe then made the trip and filled it the same way after getting back. at most a tenth of a gallon difference, I fill it the same way each time and my mileage is very consistant so I'm pretty sure of the fill up gallons used in the calculation.
