Time for a new clutch (GT)

Well, my VGT is just under 92k and the clutch just started slipping quite a bit. I'm happy that the clutch has made it this far. I believe it's probably the stock clutch, but i've only owned the VGT for almost 30k.I was looking on Ebay for a clutch and came across this... Exedy clutch with a 12lb F1 Racing flywheel from Gripforce Clutches for $289. Any opinoins? Or would I be better off just buying the clutch only and getting the flywheel remachined? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...20369TIA...

I just replaced mine a few months back, I went with a ACT HD street clutch, the flywheel to be resurfaced, I went with the Fidanza Flywheel. The new combo worked great. was a little more then the ebay stuff.the guys at http://monkeywrenchracing.com help me get all my parts, they are great on helping you out and getting you the parts you needwhen you either replace or resurface the flywheel you will need to replace the flywheel bots

How do you find the Fidanza flywheel?I've been digging through the treads as well and there doesn't seem to be much of a consensus or rating system of aftermarket clutches.Maybe we need to make a thread where all GT owners already replaced their clutches with after parts and give a review?

The new flywheel took at little getting used to; but after, it's about the same has the stock one.

Well, I took the dive and got the clutch replace. i ended up buying the F1 Racing Clutch (Stage2) from GripForce on Ebay ($153 shipped). I've read mixed reviews about the clutch, but the pro's outweighed the con's. Brought the Vibe to a transmission shop yesterday AM. Was supposed to get a call back by the end of the day, never did... Today called, they were still workin on it. I am at work, but my "better half" picked it up for me at 6pm. Brought it here, said it's very touchy and stalled it once. said it feels 1000x better now though! also, i ended up just having them resurface the OEM flywheel.I can't wait to get off work to test it out!

So can I just say how much of a difference my new clutch has made?! It's gonna take a lil bit of time for me to get used to the Stage2 clutch, but it's definitly very very nice. When going into first, it's just really hard for me to get it just right. I either give it too much gas and it wants to squeal the tires, or i don't give it enough gas and almost stall out... oh well... just gotta drive it some more and get used to it!

If you don't mind my asking, what did they charge you for the labor? (just trying to get a ballpark figure for what i'm looking at when I get this done)

Well since I provided the clutch kit, I was charged $510+tax for the labor, and approx $45 for the resurfacing of the flywheel. This was at Cottman Transmission in Kenosha, WI. I am pretty sure that they are a national chain. http://www.cottman.com Most of the Quotes I got for the work were in the $500-600 range though. One of the places I talked to told me when he looked at the procedure to do it, he said that where ever I took the car, it should be to an actual transmission shop, not just a regular service shop, because the procedure looked complicated. He knew that he wasn't the lowest quote that I got (he was actually the highest at $600+). But he said that a shop without a transmission specialist may just not have the right knowledge to do the replacement. for him tellin me this, even though he knew he wasn't getting my sale.here were my quotes:$510-Cottmans$595-Aamco$600+ -S&R Transmission (local shop)PS bodhi, I just checked and there is a Cottman's in Parkersburg. May be worth looking into when the time comes for your clutch.
