2008 out, 2008 in.....

Post by mktrat »

Violet the 2008 FWD vibe (I've had her since new 11/10/07) saved my life Thursday night when I slid on black ice and found ditch and an oak tree.

She was replaced by Diana also a 2008 FWD:

So I guess I'll need to update my profile pic soon.

I love these cars!!

Anybody need parts? :D

I need interior parts if your crashed vibe is still around!!

Specifically do your sun visors extend when put against the side windows? I've heard that they added that for the 08 models and would love a set that extends (phoenix sucks...)

My 2007 has the extendable visors. It looks like it was a 1st Gen add on at the first refresh.

Center console cap - do you have the single cap, or the compartment cap? I have the compartment cap, and a thief broke the hinge assembly on it. I've been keeping my eye out for a replacement - unfortunately, it's a single molded piece (lid and hinge) rather than a separate hinge piece.

Oh - save the rear seat release knobs. They're freaking expensive, even with a GM employee discount.

Seeing how this unfortunate accident took the life of your Vibe, do you plan on replacing it with another Vibe? What did the insurance company give you for it?

Glad you are OK after the accident. Black ice is really dangerous. Glad you were able to get another Vibe especially one as nicely preserve as that one.

Guess I had better read EVERYTHING before commenting. You did replace it! Nice and it looks great. Love that steel Blue color!

The vibe is currently located in Michigan.
48072 zip to be exact.

Can I get a detailed description of any parts you want?

Maybe even a pic of the part?

Tell me what you want and we can make a deal!!

Glad you're ok and that you found a replacement so quick. Your new Stealth looks vaguely familiar for some reason.

I can see it now. A box with one rear headrest, the glove box door, coin holder from next to the steering wheel, and the rug from the bottom of the console :)

I was thinking more like a slightly used cabin air filter, the fan speed knob, the wingnut that holds the jack in place, one of the side cargo area compartment covers, and the little stick that holds up the hood.

Heheh.

For yourself, be sure to yank out the door actuator motor so you have a spare (plus the knobs I mentioned earlier)

I'll try to come up with a short parts list myself. Does your center console have a single lid, or the double lid?

Single but FYI the latch is broken. Otherwise, it's fully functional.

The door actuator? do tell...

The HVAC door actuator - that's the motor that opens and closes the recirculation vent door. It's one of those parts that I think every single Vibe ends up having break within 7 years, due to several poor designs. If you work your way behind the glove box and remove it, you'll have it for _when_ yours breaks in the current Vibe. (you can even flip the gear over to get extra life out of it)

Some of the misc items sound intriguing but I'm not sure what interchanges between first and second gens. In reality it wouldn't be worth your time to mess around with the stuff I was looking for. When I first got mine I was all into putting the correct hardware inplace of incorrect hardware. Now I don't care and plan on running it into the ground. This vehicle doesn't give me a "good Vibe". I think it's the red color, I'm having no luck with red vehicles.

Glad you weren't seriously injured though and also glad to see you've already gotten another Vibe!
