made a SRI but MAF didn't agree with it

Post by fst »

SO I made a custom SRI from a few spare pieces I had laying around from my 98 grand prix gtp. removed the air vsc so no codes popped up. no matter where I placed the MAF sensor the car idled like it had a cam. got multiple DTC codes such as MAF sensor low voltage, misfire on a few cylinders, etc. I had it placed either by near the filter or by the throttle body made no difference. the intake tubing is 2.5" fwiw. I jus gave up and threw back in the stock air box with KN drop-in filter and it ran 100% fine.

I thought I read somewhere either on here or the fb group that some 2zz are that sensitive on the type of SRI/CAI?

IIRC the MAF needs to be placed the same distance from the TB as stock. Also, the diameter of the piping, at that point, must be the same for it to work correctly.
K&N, and others, make SRI's for these cars.

What size is the stock diameter intake piping, 2.25"?
