Any trailer hitch fit the 2009/10 Vibe GT?

Post by JSizzle »

I've seen that at least some trailer hitches will not fit on the GT trim. Anyone know of any that would fit? Would like a trailer hitch bike rack if possible.

There are a few. I was dealing with the local Discount Hitch location, and some of the hitches on their website say specifically for the GT or Matrix XRS trims. They told me they could order one in, and if it does not fit, of course order another one. I ended up buying a $40 one on Craigslist for a regular Vibe, removed the black plastic trim, and just used it temporarily. You could trim the plastic to clear the hitch if you never plan to remove it also.

Thanks! Would any hitch that fits a 2009+ Matrix XRS also fit a Vibe GT?

I will vouch for the Curt brand hitch. I had one on my 09 GT for a few years and its worked well. Be sure to clean the cage nuts of road debris before install. etrailer.com is a online source i have used. I bought mine for the Vibe from the hitch store but I think they went out of business because I can't find a site for them. I also put a Curt on my Forester. I used a class 2 hitch on my Vibe and had to grind the rear of the receiver tube because when I put the car in reverse it rubbed against the muffler and created a rumbling sound. That would be easier to do before install imo.
