Post by leaster1939 »

after I sold my pickup, I needed a way to haul a sheet of plywood. This is what I made using PVC pipe attached to my roof carrier and trailer hitch. Any one interested in building one let me know and I will provide more info Email at leaster @sc.rr.com OOPS SORRY jpg file too large to add

That's an interesting rig. I have not been able to find a roof rack for my 2010 yet.

Check photo by Gohan77 That looks like mine. I will look for vendor data and post it. I keep the rack stored in the ceiling of my carport. Takes about 10 minutes to attach

Quite a few 09-10 owners have installed the OEM 09-14 Matrix roof rack (the Toyota part number referenced by leaster1939). The Matrix rack looks so much better than the OEM 09-10 Vibe one.

Matrix rack for $259 shipped on eBay.

Nice carrier. Looks very effective and inexpensive. I've carried some lattice on top of mine but not plywood. With the front and rear passenger seats folded, you can also carry 8 foot lumber - with the rear hatch closed. Lay some boards down and wrap the seat belt over the boards and click it into place. The seat belt holds the lumber securely: and so the Vibe somewhat doubles as a pickup. I have installed maybe 250 feet of 6" tall privacy fence. All of it carried in my Vibe in this manner including the 8' posts, 8' stringers, 6' fence boards, and many bags of concrete. It took a few trips, but I can't install it all in one day anyway. Plus I don't have to buy or feed a gas swigging pickup. I applaud your creativeness in making the plywood carrier. Really nice job on that!
