Fastest you've gone?

Post by Pugz »

what's the fastest you've gone? any mods, or are you running stock? yesterday we finished our work up by lunch and left early and i was racing a chrysler 200 home on the freeway and hit 110mph before i had to start to slow down. he didnt try to keep up at that point. i still had a decent amount of pedal left, too.

Yeah, I wouldn't push mine that far. It starts vibrating and getting weird around 80 or 85.

Cue the negative feedback, OP.

Anyway, for me, 163 mph. This was NOT in the Vibe but the Supra. I think the fastest I've been in the Vibe is about 12X mph. Vibe is stock engine-wise. Had room still.

I've had access to half mile and mile racing tracks not to mention super long, empty, open stretches of roads in the middle of nowhere here in Texas.

Around 100mph in the vibe. It was still pretty smooth. Probably would have run out of gear around 120. My G8 is governed around 135. It felt like it could go faster but it is limited.

The fastest Ive gone is 110mph.

it was in a stock 5 speed 1989 Toyota Tercel (yep a tercel!) ... rusty as hell... in 2011. I bought this car for $350. lol

I recently acquired my sisters 03 vibe GT and am scared to think about the possibilities.

I am an organ donor.

Anyways quick thought... I recently was BSing with a state trooper (after being pulled over for speeding) and he told me that their older model crown vics are chipped at 130.

I'd be surprised if they could make the 130 without an obscene amount of distance. Those old crown vics are balls slow, but I guess it's all relative.

I've done about 108-110 mph. Had about 4 seated feeling stable, didn't inspire anymore confidence to go faster though.

Had my 03 Vibe GT up to an indicated 131MPH I'm pretty sure that was the top speed.

I haven't pushed the Vibe that hard. I think I may have only done 90-95 out on some open deserted highway.

I think the fastest I've gone was only ~110 in my mom's car back in high school. That was a 94 Plymouth Sundance. A feat I later repeated in my 95 Neon during college. I want to say I may have pushed the Neon up to 120, but my memory is a little fuzzy there.

The one I'm the most proud of: hitting 96mph in my 88 Ford Festiva... down a slight grade... with the wind at my back.

Haven driven and owned a few of the infamous K cars, I can honestly say that 110 in a Sundance is like 160 in almost anything else. :D

Some years ago I had been talked into getting some no-line bifocal glasses. I am not compatible with them. The optics at the transition in the lenses makes the whole world tip when you turn your head back and forth. On me, its hypnotic. The first day I was driving home wearing them, a cop pulled me over. Actually three, two states and one local. They said they'd been on me for 6 miles going 95mph trying to pull me over. I don't remember them pulling me over, just being already stopped on the shoulder. I'm still amazed that I could have been so out of it to not notice the cops as I sped so fast, and yet stayed in my lane and didn't hit anything. They saved my life that day. They dropped the ticket to 74 in a 55 since i wasn't DUI to keep it at under 20 over the limit. That was the last time I wore those glasses, and although I can't really say I was there at the time, the fastest I ever drove a Vibe

199kph (ca. 124mph) on the German autobahn in '09 Vibe GT with K&N Typhoon intake. That 199kph was on the GPS - the speedometer showed about 128mph, but it's too high. That was apparently the top speed, because although it had room on the tach, it wouldn't go any faster.

130mph in a VW Jetta 1.8 turbo (in Germany; not its top speed).

135+ in a 1975 Camaro 350 4-barrel (in Germany; not its top speed).

all legal :D

A. ~550mph in a 747 at 38000 ft.

B. About 100mph in the our '03 Vibe base. Car probably had/still has more speed, but I'm old now and there was just too much traffic.
C. 125mph as a passenger in a brand new 66 Olds Toronado that my dad was driving. In 1966.

D. OTOH, my most thrilling ride was at about 35mph as a passenger in the back seat of a Honda 600 mini-coupe flying through the curve under railroad underpass. Sideways.

Parent's 04 Highlander - 160kph (~99mph) on a flat road passing a truck.

My 09 GT Vibe - 130kph (~81mph) usual work commute, downhill though.

VW CC, easily go over 100 mph with confidence.
05 Vibe, 85 mph maximum. It's well maintained so no shaking or anything strange at that speed. It's just the feeling. I feel if I commit even the slightest mistake the car will crash.
