Post by sippy25 »

hello I am wondering can I install a 1.8 litre 1zz-fe into a vibe gt 2003 that had a 2zz-ge? will the 6 speed transmission hook up to it? thanks

Yes, the 1ZZ will bolt to the 6spd. Many people have made the 6 spd swap into the base models.

I don't know the specifics, but the short answer to your question is yes, you can swap a 1ZZ in to a GT. You will need at least the engine and the ECU, after that, I'm clueless.

I've never done it personally, but I do not believe there's anything that would make it particularly difficult . There should be others around who have done it who would better suited to ask.

It is quite possible you would need a new wiring harness to match the engine since the two motors are different, but it might just mean re-pinning or moving wires around on the existing wiring harness. Not sure, but I would make sure what all you need to do before you start.

Good luck on it!
