The joys of owning a car with an identity criss

Post by Jhinman »

Went to get a replacement lug nut as I am think of getting rid of the locking lug nuts.

Asked at Parts Source if they had lug nuts for a 2007 vibe. They told me they don't carry an lug nuts for the vibe. Asked they had lug nuts for a 2007 matrix and the guy behind the counter told me he lived how I thought.

They did carry them but where out at the time.

Geeze... every junk yard I have ever been to has known cross reference models. (Ford Escort=Mazda something-or-other, Geo Metro=Suziki Swift, Geo Prizm=Toyota Corolla).

Of course, they do sort the domestic badged imports in the actual imports section, so they'd have to know about such things.

I just ordered a set of 20 from Rockauto, for some alloy wheels I will install next summer. $1.50 a piece, Dorman 611211, shipped to my house in Canada in just two days.

I was able to get one at Canadian Tire, after having the same conversation. Rockauto seems to only sell in grips groups of 10. But if I ever find a set of or vibe hubcaps for my winter wheels I might use them for the outer thread lugs.
