2009 Vibe newbie

Post by ol55 »

Hello,

We have a 2009 Vibe that we bought at the end of 2009 under the "crusher" program. Lost my '86 4runner but gained a nice Vibe with a 2.4, FWD, and a 5 speed. It has 17" chrome-clad wheels and a roof rack. We have had few problems with it (TPS) excluding recalls.

My short term reason to sign up is to find a least one chrome-clad wheel to replace the bent rim we have.

Thanks in advance,
Larry

Welcome to GenVibe, although hopefully you're not a "short term" member. Too much valuable information here which benefits all of us who own these great little cars. Anyway these rims are NOT two piece, so you have to replace the entire rim. I've attached the brochure page showing the rims that were available for the 2009-10 Vibes. You are referring to the "N75" which supposedly was ONLY available on the AWD models. Is your Vibe an AWD model? Very few USA models came with the roof rack option on the 09-10 Vibes.

I'm not going to be any help, but..... Are you sure its not an AWD? I thought the only 2nd Gens that came with the roof rack were the AWDs. Plus, as mentioned, it sounds like you're looking for an AWD wheel.

Welcome Larry! We'd love to see some pics of your Vibe, for sure. And I can confirm that Pontiac did sell some FWD models with the chrome clad wheels that were supposedly only for the AWD versions. I've seen several when I was searching for our Vibes, and almost went to look at one, but it was sold before I got out to see it. They are a nice wheel upgrade.

Not trying to contradict you Tim, but I pulled my 09 Pontiac brochure and it shows the wheels and roof rack as options for the FWD 2.4L models. So maybe this is yet another thing GM got wrong with the literature on our Vibes!

Vibenvy, Thanks you for suggesting car-part.com.

Here is a picture of my wife's Vibe. Somewhere I have the window sticker. It is a 2.4 five speed.

Very nice looking Vibe! Thanks for posting a picture ;)! I can't quite tell though... is it dark grey or bluish-purplish?

I have the window stickers from both our Vibes! They're definitely a cool memento to have!

YES ... definitely TWO different brochures were likely published. The first edition probably came out in late 2007 (That year is NOT a typo!) Then when they finally starting running production a few months later (Feb or March 2008) the cars hit dealer lots by April and were labeled as 2009 Model years. Somewhere down the line they made a "choice" change with the wheels. My snapshot doesn't show the trim levels (got cut off at the top) like your snapshot does BUT they are the same and the third column over was the AWD choice (your photo shows) and down next to the N75 wheel it ONLY shows "A" which means "available" and ONLY for the AWD trim level. They obviously made a brochure change somewhere over the span of the 2009 model year!
