Nebraska New Member 2008 Vibe.

Post by deafanddiabetic »

Hey everybody,

This forum was the sole reason I ended up with my purchase. Great advice, good discussions and a good....vibe....

I've been driving a 2002 Mazda P5 Wagon the past few years, did a lot of upgrades, suspension, air filter, made it a little sporty. But eventually I realized that the car was too "nice" and not nearly as economical as I needed. Can't carry band equipment and motorcycle parts in heated leather, ya know?

So, after hunting for a few months I found a 2008 Vibe 1.8l base model that had been totaled out by the insurance company and a friend of mine did the bumper and quarter panel repair. He told me there was no structural damage and was a pretty easy fix, but the lady who owned it was paid out by the insurance company and he wanted to sell the Vibe.

The old gal took care of it, maintenance records for every oil change, serpentine belt at 60k, tires, brakes every year or so, I was pretty impressed. People don't usually keep those records.

So, I picked up the Vibe for $4500 with 71,000 miles on it, a brand new paint and body job, new tires, brakes, belt, battery and ready to ride.

It has a previous salvage title, but that doesn't bug me, I've bought salvage vehicles before.

I love her, we're good friends already.

First order of business is swapping out the stereo, I'm waiting on the harness/bezel from eBay now and then I'll probably start upgrading cosmetic things.

Thanks for all the help on the forum! If you know anyone in the Nebraska area needing to buy a Mazda Sport Wagon, I'm your guy right now! ;)

Congrats and welcome! The car looks really nice, and I like that rare color. Salvage title, if the damage is not bad, like it sounds on this one, is just a way to get a good car a cheaper price.

Good luck with it, and my son agrees, it is a great car to transport the band along with most of their equipment!

Welcome to GenVibe. Yes you do have a rare blue color but it is very nice! Keep in mind that the 2008 model production run was a short one due to the redesigned 2009's rolling out the factory in April 2008. If repairs were properly done then you got a very good Vibe for a steal. Enjoy the ride :D

Welcome!

Wave was an awesome color. 8-) Most of the Vibes in that color I've seen were monotone, so it's pretty cool seeing a two tone.

Looks like they did a good job fixing it up. Enjoy the car!

Thanks everybody!

I look forward to contributing as well as soaking up all the information this place has to offer.

I've already gotten suggestions on here for our "1.5" DIN size stereos and Crutchfield came through as usual with great service and a good product.

Can anybody point me towards people's custom mods and interior design? Maybe some recommended good "build" threads, resto projects, custom interiors, etc that you found particularly good or interesting?

DeClercq put Wet Okole Seat covers in his Vibe. Unfortunately he got into a crash.

vibrologist,

I got your PM today, but I think because of my newb status that the forum will not let me reply to your message? I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to respond.

Will you shoot me an email instead?
