New Member - 2007 Vibe Base

Post by Fever »

Hello Genvibe.

New member here waiting to pick up my new to me winter beater (I say that lovingly) 2007 Vibe. A very base unit with 5M, no power group, 130k km, silver in colour. Very clean unit purchased from the original owner. Comes with winter Hankooks on rims and a pretty sweet Kenwood dbl din touch screen. She's getting saftied now, might get it tomorrow.

Thanks already to Genvibe for information on how to add factory cruise control, the only thing I really want from the power group. Part on order ($71CAD delivered) from Rockauto.

This baby will fit nicely with the rest of my stable lol. The '13 FR-S will get nice winter storage, and the old '99 Ranger 4X4 (270k km) will not have to do regular winter duty at 19-20mpg like last year, but will be available for any and all truck related duties. She's a good old girl that I'm not about to get rid of.

Fever.

That's an enviable fleet you have! Something for every occasion. I would love to see some pictures of all of them.

Thanks vibrologist, I will take some pics and post when I get a chance. Unfortunately it's been raining lately so the 'fleet' is a bit dirty. I pick up the Vibe later this morning.
I took a look at your garage (talk about a fleet of Vibes, you're a Vibe hog!) and found your seat adjustment mod. I'll keep that in mind after a while behind the wheel to see if it may work for me too.

Welcome! Nice looking Vibe, FR-S and Ranger! I've liked the FR-S since it came out, and it looks really good in your blue color. A local person was selling a set of FR-S wheels, (for $350!) and I thought about them for my Vibe, but they sold pretty quick.

Good luck with them!

You're welcome. Is that the original navigation center or an aftermarket one? Very nice FR-S as well :)

That's a Kenwood DDX371 touch screen unit. The original owner installed it for the hands free Bluetooth function. You can't see it in the interior pic, but there's a little mic on top of the steering column, and a usb connection down low off the console. There's no nav installed that I can tell just yet.
Yes the FR-S is quite a nice drive. She's got a catback that gives it a growl. Alas, soon to be stored for the winter. Two summers now, 15k km.
Although, after a couple days now with the Vibe, I'm pleasantly surprised how well she handles and goes through the gears. No regrets.

Thanks trb! Glad you like the 'fleet'. I'm a sucker for pretty much any shade of blue, so I went with it for the FR-S. That's a good idea if I ever get fresh wheels for the FR-S. It would look pretty good I think. I'm may steal your idea  ;)

Just a question out of curiosity. Why did you go with the Scion version rather than the Subaru? I'm a Subie nut... '92 SVX, '97 SVX, 2012 Outback.

Indeed, your fleet is special! I am biased for that Ranger as well. I bought a non running Mazda B 2300 (same as Ranger 2.3) for my son and fixed it up.

I suppose you take the FR-S to an autocross now and then.

Another thing caught my eye: you have the fanciest hose reel on the continent, just classy!

Hi Raven, as you're a Subie nut, I'm more of a 'Yota fanboy so the Scion name didn't bother me at all. I like the front end of the FR-S more the the BRZ version. Also, it was a bit easier on the wallet as the BRZ was a bit more expensive than the FR-S.

So you have SVX's eh? Pretty rare around these parts, must be a nice ride.

You're welcome. Buddy had the B2300 and it was a real good truck, I'm sure your boy appreciates the effort. The Ranger has done a lot for me in the past so I'll hang on to her as long as I can. Always nice to have a truck at the ready.

They do an autox at an airport about an hour away from here about 3-4 times a season. I haven't yet, but now with a good back up like the Vibe, I'm going to do it next year. Gotta buy a helmet, get some numbers. I was hesitant with a new car, but she's got two seasons under her belt now, no longer new. Time to giv'er.

You like that fancy reel? An old American Racing wheel. Works good, looks good, why not? Glad you like it.
