I have an 09 GT that has a weird engine noise (diesel) when i first start the car. but the noise actually starts when i put the car in gear and drive off. soon after it goes away. another thing is that rattle noise not very loud but every time i hit a bump it's in the dash. i had heard that it was some strap holding the cruise control box but now i read on this forum that someone had a noise coming from a steering control box, any ideas would be appreciated.
It is called valve clatter. I have it on my 2009 1.8 liter Corolla Vibe. It quiets down after 2 miles, but occurs EACH time I start the car. I have heard that a dealer will not do anything about it (ie: valve adjustment) unless it is constant. If anyone else thinks that a technician needs to address this issue, please chime in. I'm not a mechanic, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!
