Vibe tent

Post by gec343 »

I am interested in buying a tent which attaches to the rear of the Vibe. I would like the best quality possible, since I plan on a several month camping trip this Winter. I pick up my 2010 model Vibe AWD on Monday, 1 Sept.

Yes I think you're right. I just did some research on the Spotz Dome tents, and they get terrible reviews, broken poles, etc. What brand is that trailer, price, etc. Thanks. Is that a black Vibe? I'll be picking up my 2010 black AWD on Monday.

This is what I used while taking my apprenticeship course. 7 weeks, Nov3rd to Dec19th 2008... Coldest it got was -15C. Inside it as well insulated ans the space heater kept it at about 20C - 23C.

No tent that attaches to the Vibe will hold up well in the winter. Your just better off purchasing a 4 season tent from a store like Gander Mountain or REI. Check out http://www.rei.comAlso, you may want to invest in a 0 degree sleeping bag. That is the el cheap / limited budget route... Otherwise buy yourself a small tear drop or pop up camper with a hitch and wiring set up; of course that is the expensive route.

My (OLd, Ugly) trailer cost $200. Insurance is $46 a year. After 2 new tires, fixing the canvas and new wiring I spent less then $400! And I am El chepo.... (Except when it comes to the wife)

WARNING, , some of the nicer , larger, " pop-up " campers you will see, look ideal, but they can be quite heavy. TOO heavy to tow in my opinion. Like the trailer that someone else posted, look up " teardop trailer, online. Many people have bought the plans & built their own. I would only use a trailer with at least 12" wheels. Another simple option I have seen, is to get a long pick-up truck camper cover [ shell, topper ] & mate it to a utility trailer frame that you can buy from Tractor Supply, etc. Build sides up on trailer about 18" high, [cover the sides for waterproofing, if needed ] & to the correct dimensions of the camper cover, & install. You can remove it when you just need a utility trailer for hauling. Yes, you cannot stand up inside it, but like cheaper " live-aboard boats, you " crawl " into bed.

Unlike a car tire, trailer tires should be inflated to their MAX rated pressure! Don't forget to re-pack the bearings every year of two!

Screw a trailer. If you are solo (or with a dog) like me, you can totally get away with living in your vibe. I've been doing it for two months now and plan on it until October. Think I'm joking? Check out my blog of my trip: http://masonsgreatadventure.blogspot.com

my Vibe trailer is an Embassy Suites. I get better gas mileage getting there, and the manager's reception ensures I get my red wine heart medication every night. Top that!!!

$6000 is a lot for a glorified tent on wheels...
