Got some love today at the gas station! When I came out this guy (I'm guessing an '08 Base?) was parked next to me. Taking this shot I am literally plastered against the wall of the store, Mission Impossible-style, because the double- in&out -doors of the store are all glass and I didn't want the person to catch me as they were paying for their stuff. :D

Image

PS - guess this pic isn't the best. I'm the black one, '09 GT.

In town visiting relatives, finally found the delivery Vibe parked at the parts store. Blue on Blue! Wave and Neptune Vibes. :geek: To bad it was along an alley, wanted to get a better pic. It is the only Wave Vibe I have ever seen in the area.

Vibe lovin' all around at work. 1st pic was when I got out Thursday; 2nd pic I came out to Saturday. I think this 'parking next to other Vibe's' thing is starting to catch on! :D (*or it could be just that parking spaces are limited  )

No pictures, but a great story of talking with a former Vibe owner...

I went to the movies last week with my good friend, his brother and his nephew. His nephew was in town for a few days before moving back home to California from Pennsylvania. When I got in his car, he told me he really liked my Vibe. Than he proceeded to tell me that him and his ex-girlfriend had a 2003 and he loved it. He said he was in a band and loved all the room it had with the seats folded down to haul gear and all. He also loved the great gas mileage it got. He said the only bad thing was that it was pretty slow :P. He said he missed it because his ex had kept it. Unfortunately I didn't think to ask him more info about it, i.e. color, transmission, etc. :(.

Just thought I would share this totally unexpected story of yet another satisfied Vibe owner with my fellow GenVibers :D!

My mom and I were at Target this morning in her Vibe. We parked in one of our usual end spots. When we came out, there was a nice clean 2nd gen white Vibe GT with aftermarket wheels parked a row or two behind us. We got in my mom's Vibe and I was just about to back up next to it and take a picture when the owner came out and got in :(. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the picture. I was going to say something to the owner (a guy probably in his 20s or 30s), but he didn't even look at us or anything, so I didn't bother . That GT sure did look sharp in white, but it was weird to see it with different wheels. They appeared to have a polished face with black painted inserts. They were at least 10 spoke. They were not my style at all, but they didn't look too bad.

I came out of Wal-Mart a couple of days ago and found a 1st gen parked next to me. Looks just like my son's, but with different wheels.

I pulled into Lowes today to look for some curtain rod parts, and there was a nice Tesla parked outside, so I grabbed the spot behind it. I just thought it was a nice car, it is the P85+ model, so I took a pic. It didn't even dawn on me until just a bit ago........ it was built in the same factory as our Vibes! So I guess it qualifies for Vibe love?

There are many instances of Vibes making the news, but this is the first time literally seeing a Vibe making the news. Spotted at the Ku-Ku Burger (...great stop) on Route 66 in Miami Oklahoma... Looks like they could use curb feelers for this ride, hub caps are having a hard life

Parallel parking near the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. I noticed the Vibe when I backed up to it. That's a pretty hue of blue.

Pulled into a Starbuck's lot to get a Mocha Venti and parked next to this old girl. The years haven't been good to her. She should have been using more sunscreen if spending so much time outside I think.

Showed some love to a 2009 (I peeked at the interior. It was a 5-speed auto and had the black shifter bezel, hence how I know it was a 2009 :P!) Red Hot Metallic 2.4L Base Vibe earlier today at Walmart in DeKalb, IL...

Image

A couple stories from this past week too...

First, my mom was at Rural King one day this past week and a lady in a big SUV parked next to her. As my mom was going to get out of her Vibe, the lady came up and started talking to her, asking her how she liked the Vibe, etc. Apparently the lady was wanting to downsize from her huge SUV and was considering a Buick Encore. She said the Vibe seemed about the same size, so she started asking my mom all kinds of questions about it. My mom said they talked for around 10 minutes and my mom even opened up the hatch and showed her all the room in the cargo area, etc. My mom made some comment about the Vibe being 5+ years old and the lady said how nice it looked (it just so happened to acutally be clean for once :P).

Second, I was driving to work yesterday morning. I was sitting at the stop sign at the end of my street waiting for a couple cars to go by. There was a little girl and boy, both about 6-8 years old, walking down the sidewalk on their way to school. As I turned, I just happened to look over and the little boy looked at the Vibe for a split second and than gave me a thumbs up! This totally made my day :D!

Third, this afternoon my parents and I were in my mom's Vibe getting gas. My uncle ended up being at the same pump. He came out from paying and came over to talk to us. He asked if the car was new and my mom told him no, that it's 5+ years old. He couldn't believe how nice it looked for a 5+ year old car.

I forgot to add one more funny Vibe story to my last post...

I work at Y.S. Organic Bee Farms which is a warehouse and production facility that produces all sorts of bee-based health products (honey, assorted capsules, pollen, propolis, etc.). A couple Fridays ago, we were getting toward the end of the day. We were filling orders and getting the products all wrapped up and ready to be shipped out. All of a sudden, the power went out (this happens quite often because this place is out in the middle of nowhere). This made it much more difficult to wrap the products for shipment because we use electronic tape machines where you tear a piece of tape off and another one pops out. I said to my co-workers jokingly that I should park my Vibe by the building so we could plug one of the tape machines into the household outlet in it. They all started asking me if the Vibe seriously had a household outlet in it and when I said yes, they were all saying how cool that was ! Just a goofy little story I thought I'd share with my fellow Vibe owners !

Hmm, another Vibe with 'winter mode' tires and wheels? I hope so, it kind of bugs me to see a Vibe that is supposed to have hubcaps, with some sort of knock off style that looks silly as opposed to the factory ones. I'd rather see them without any if that's the case.

I'm willing to bet these were not just for winter. It was lady in her 40s or 50s and didn't seem the type to have separate sets of wheels at all.

I'm currently at my local library. When I pulled into the parking lot, I saw this 2nd gen 1.8L and parked next to it. I know I've gotten a shot with my Vibe and this same Vibe a couple years back, but I couldn't pass up another one :D!

Last weekend my mom and I took an overnight trip to Waukesha, Wisconsin. Between the trip there and the trip back, we counted 20 different Vibes! Below is a breakdown of some interesting statistics on these 20 Vibes:
- Of the 20 Vibes, only 4 were 2nd gens
- 3 of the 4 2nd gens were 2.4L Bases / the 4th was a white GT
- Of the 16 1st gens, 1 was a Fusion monotone and 1 was a Wave two-tone

Needless to say, the majority of these Vibes were seen while we were driving, so the only picture I got was of my Vibe and this 2009 Carbon Grey Metallic 2.4L Base that was at our hotel when we arrived!
