GM Employee Pricing is back

Post by nortsr »

Autoblog reports that tomorrow GM will announce "EMPLOYEE PRICING" until Sept.2nd. All makes and models ( probably not Corvette)...I really don't know, but I do know that Pontiac Vibe is included. What I don't know is whether or not you still get the $500.00 rebate and "can you also use your GM points? Anybody know????

You will still get the $500 rebate and can use GM points.I do not like how GM decided to start doing this "employee pricing".

This bad news for Gm to do this.......they stop leasing cars so they will not lose so much on resale.then they go and devalue all there cars......What a stupid move.

August 19, 2008Celebrating GM's 100th Anniversary: The Employee Discount for Everyone"The price you pay is the price we pay - not a cent more."DETROIT - GM today announced the GM 100th Anniversary Sales Event, on virtually its entire lineup of 2008MY Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Saturn, Cadillac, Saab and HUMMER vehicles from August 20 through September 2, 2008. The event features employee pricing on nearly all 2008MY vehicles, and select 2009MY vehicles in stock. This program is designed to celebrate the company's 100th anniversary by providing employee pricing to the public for a very limited time. GM's combination of offering terrific MSRPs, and great incentives, offers customers a unique value opportunity as the company celebrates its centennial year and looks toward the future. "We have 100 years of innovation behind us, but what's ahead is even more exciting," said Mark LaNeve, vice president, GM North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. "We brought the world electric starters, the fully automatic transmission, OnStar and fuel cell vehicles. It's been a long history of technological leadership, and the result of that innovative spirit is on GM dealer's lots today. To celebrate, we're offering the employee discount to everyone on our 2008 and some of our 2009 models. This is a phenomenal offer for consumers." Here are the details:Customers can get employee (GMS) pricing at participating dealers on virtually all remaining 2008MY GM vehicles in stock. 2009MY vehicles eligible for employee pricing are the Chevrolet Cobalt and HHR, Pontiac Vibe and G5 and Cadillac CTS. Special stickers will be in vehicle windows at participating dealerships that show the bottom-line price customers will pay, taking into account the employee (GMS) price and all applicable incentives and rebate offers.Excludes: 2008MY medium-duty trucks and most 2009 MY vehicles. Customers should visit their neighborhood GM dealer for complete details and offer restrictions. For more information about GM's current offers, visit:http://www.gm.com/vehicles/currentoffers/For more information about GM's 100th anniversary, and where it's headed in the future, visit http://www.gmnext.com/ GM celebrates 100 years on September 16, 2008.General Motors Corp. Who this really screws are GM employees. They always get their discount plus the incentives. Right now, their are hardly any incentives.

One article I read estimated employee pricing as about 10% under invoice but added it varies by model..Wonder if the $500 conquest rebate is still going on in addition to the regular $500 rebate.

The GM employee pricing all depends on what packages are in the car. They can not take money off the base price. They do seem a little low now compared to when I bought my Vibe in end of 06. I roughly got around $2500 off with my certificate. The real big difference from when someone who is not GM and someone like me. I am not required to pay processing fee that the dealerships apply.Examples-2009 Vibe (1SA)5 speed 1.8No extras addedSticker price - $15,985.00GMS price - $14,903.00Difference - $1,082.002009 Vibe (1SB)5 speed 2.4No extras addedSticker price - $16,485.00GMS price - $15,363.00Difference - $1,122.002009 Vibe GT (1SA)5 Speed 2.4No extras addedSticker price - $20,585.00GMS price - $19,135.00Difference - $1,450.002009 Vibe AWD (1SA)4 speed auto 2.4No extras addedSticker price - $20,185.00GMS price - $18,767.00Difference - $1,418.00

"Who this really screws are GM employees. They always get their discount plus the incentives. This simply increases depreciation of all GM vehicles and those who didnt get the incentive just saw their car depreciate by the amount of the incentive.

At least when you buy something at Target and it goes on sale the next week you can return it or get an adjustment.

No, because it has the (1SA) package in it. If they made a vibe with nothing in it at all then that would technically be a base. Now a days there is somewhat of a package in the cars. It is like getting a silverado that is made for work trucks with nothing in it.Here is the price you were asking about-1SA package 4 speed auto 1.8HVAC systemPreferred PackageMSRP - $18,730.00GMS - $17,236.25

The only legacy costs that were addressed were Union Healthcare costs. (And this will not take affect until 2010.) GM is still responsible for all Union and Salaried Pension and Salaried Retirement healthcare (and there are many retirees).

The $17,236 GMS is thus $693 under invoice. Then there is the $500 rebate and perhaps the possibility of getting the elusive mysterious $500 conquest rebate. So best case I am looking at $16,236; With my $1,600 GM Card earnings that gets down to $14,636. That's only $1,000 more than I paid for my nearly identical 2003. All Ohio dealers ae charging a $250 doc fee these dasy as it is the max the law allows without disclosing it in advertising. Those campaign contributions sure do pay off.CORRECTED 8/22: $14,636 + 250 + 1,180 sales tax = 16,066. I know I can sell my 2003 with 31,000 miles for $9,500. Net cost to trade = $6,566. I'll have to think about that.

They had such success with the marketing of it last time, why not try it again? They've got to do something to boost sales this quarter.
