damn i hate this

Post by ramenboy... »

so i leave work a little early today to get back into the city, and i'm driving and this crazy chick going the opposite direction decides to turn into the gas station on my side of the street.bam. my driver's side front and her passenger side front. we waited for a police that never came, so we exchanged info and will head over to the police station in the morning to fill out a report.i don' tkonw about the impact, but looking at the vibe, the front fascia is cracked and you can see some of the styrofoam from the bumper system. headlights, foglights intact. drives fine and straight. i'mj sure it won't be cheap though, to replace that.her car, didn't look so good. the the grill was busted and headlihgt came out of the housing.i guess the vibe is a pretty sturdy car. but no matter how much we take care of them, there's the people out there that drive like crapi'll take pics in the mornig before i head to the PD. but i have to sweep the snow off it.

Man I hope all is well! I wanna see the pics.I dunno if it's just recently but I am beginning to HATE everyone on the road. Maybe it's because I have to ride with other people because I can't drive right now but I really am getting tired of it...they need to make driver's ed WAAAAAAAAAAY more strict and they need to start handing out tickets for morons on their cell phones while driving without a hands-free device.

damn dude that sucks. that's exactly how my first accident happened... except the lady was turnin into the liquor store, and my car was totaled. the worst part of it all was that i had just cashed my paycheck, and was about to pick my cousin up to meet up with some girls.

ramen, that sucks. you had a sweet vibe when i saw it last year.i have almost had this happen so may times. a gas station is on the corner of a highway and a busy road. both roads are 3 lanes in each direction with 2 turning lanes. the turn in for the gas station is 30ft after the intersection and in the west bound lanes there are signs for no left turn, i see people turn there all the time and either almost hit me, or others. a good idea not to turn is if you have to go across 5 lanes of oncomming traffic. just pull a u-ey at a stoplight, there is one 200ft away at that. here is a pic of the intersection.

yeah thanx guys.like i said, the pic will be pretty boring. at least on my end. crack in the front fascia, you can see the styrofoam. but nothing hangin off, in fact the headlights are fine, haven't even lost the foglight covers!tribal, i know the intersection you're talking about! kinda similar, but only one lane going north south, 2 lanes east/west. north/south splits to 2 lanes...one being the turning lane at the intersection. oh well...headin out to morton grove's finest. in a few.again, thanx. yup i'm glad the vibe's pretty sturdy, no injuries, and its still drivable. at least i can get around

Yeah, about that... after an accident, the car is never the same, my crash a few months back was similar to your crash, it was a bit worst from the sounds of it, but the Vibe has never been the same. yeah thanx guys...good news is i talked to my the insurance company. she's at fault because she shouldn't have turned into my lane without yielding to oncoming traffic. duh. so all i'll have to pay is my deductible.anyways, interesting thing...i can take it to one of the garages that is guaranteed by geico. but once i drop it off, they start working onit right away. they don't give an estimate... haven't taken it yet. i'll post pics as soon as i shrink them down.

granted they will tell you.....if you take it to one of our "selected" body shops we will warrenty the work for the life of the car. If you chose to take it to your own shop we will have an adjuster come out and cut you a check for what we think the damage is worth and what needs to be replace. We will not warranty the work done by a non authorized shop.BSAny good body shop will warranty their own work for the life of your car. Then you take that check to the body shop, if the damages go above and beyond what the estimator gave you, the body shop will have to arrange for the adjuster to come back out to re-inspect the car in order to be able to cut an additional check. Such as bent or damaged parts hidden by body panels. You should only have to pay your deductable to the body shop.. i.e. 100-500 ectWhat does your insurance company have anything to do with it anyways??? they aren't paying for it... the other drivers insurance company is. good reading for youhttp://www.settlementcentral.com/page0456.htm

If she was at fault in the accident (and it certainly seems that way), then her insurance should cover all of your car damage and therefore you shouldn't need to pay any deductible amount. Now if two insurance companies are involved you sometimes need to first collect from your own and pay the deductible and then you later get that amount back after your insurance company collects from the company of the at-fault driver. But in this case you said you both have the same insurance. So if they agree that she was at fault they shouldn't be asking you for a deductible payment.

Hey Jerome, sucks to hear about the accident. Same thing happened to my wife over the summer. My wife and I use Metlife ins. as did the lady that turned in front of her, we didnt have to pay our deductable. Id look in to that if I were you, as long as it wasnt on private property she is liable, I think the ins. is just tring to get out of paying a small chunk of the bill.Aron

Wow,a lot of that damage is similar to mine.Just that the hood and upper front facia took majority of the hit,and the fog-lamp which did not break.Mine won't be ready till Friday, the guy at the shop said getting parts for the Vibe is a task in itself.

quick update. car goes in for an estimate/repair thursday. we both have the same insurance. since she's at fault, i closed my claim and everything goes under her claim number. that way, i don't pay anything out of pocket.just wondering what i'll be driving while the vibe is getting fixed

woohoo! got the vibe back!!! everything looks good. except for the lower bumper. they didn't use the oem part, so it doesn't match the rest of the cladding. so they've ordered it, and it should be in in a couple days.other than that, i liked driving the mustang, but i did definitely miss the vibe
