Update : It's official, this is the 09 Vibe GT.No numbers for it, but it sounds like people think there will be a return of the GT and AWD :DHere's a full size picture http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/...1.jpgh ... 1...-vibe/
*Sold* 06' Vibe Base - Mono Platinum - Manual
Turo'ing 15' BMW 328i Sport - Jet Black - Auto
Daily 19' Toyota Camry SE Hybrid - Galactic Aqua Mica - eCVT
hey, that looks MUCH better! and i see they brought back the more aggressive "nostrils" for the front grill! let's just hope they don't dummy down the engine this time. that would be very sad and tragic imo.
yep, that was a requirement when i bought my next car after the vibe. i wanted dual exhaust. the VGT would look sexy with dual straight pipes (not actual straight pipes, but you know what i mean- single outlets).
Yeah he's talking the Y-pipe to separate into two single outlets on each end, tucked right up into cutouts in the bumper would be awesome!Give it a nice little rumble too if it does end up with a 6 option.
I like it, but they've really blurred the line with the Trix. The Vibe exterior was just different enough before to be distinct from the Toyota...now they will really look alike.

GT better not just be trim ala cobalt SSNot that it really matters but just to set the record straight, Cobalt SS is not just trim. SS is the 2.4 instead of 2.2L engine. SS/SC is a 2.0L SC engine. There is a performance diff. OK, back to the topic... I'm not sure I like it as well as the current one. Something about the doors just doesn't grab me. But, I reserve final judgement for production versions.
Yeah, looks a little too much like a Matrix too me without the roof rack and the addition of the spoiler and the opening on the front end. I'm perfectly happy with my '05.

We're speculating that the base engine may be Toyota's 1.8l 2ZR-FE L4 that's milling out 128hp in the xD. That engine is supposed to also be in the next Corolla whenever they decided to finally make it.

All cars in this class now are coming with at least hp in and around the 140 number. So why not use the 2.4L with say 161 as a base. Then you can be sure the GT/XRS models may do something like a TRD charger to boost power to just above 200. Totally possible. Either that or dump in a V6.

looks just like the matrix to me. which isn't a bad thing exactly but its a different car it should look different. unless they put a sweet sized motor in it i would keep my 03 GT
I just noticed this on the GM Source link....Quote »We've gotten our hands on the first official look at the returning GT spec Vibe.Spec? So this might not be the absolute "final" production version?http://www.thegmsource.com/ind...d=668
for the record, that picture is not necessarily of the GT trim level. all sources seem to point as it simply being a vibe. rarely do base and GT trim levels have significant aesthetic differences in a pontiac...additional info:Quote, originally posted by Left Lane News »Early look: 2009 Pontiac VibeGeneral Motors has released the first official images of the 2009 Pontiac Vibe. Little information was released with the image but it is known that the GT trim level will return for 2009 and that an all-wheel drive option will be available. The new Vibe is scheduled to debut at Los Angeles Auto Show later this year with its sister car — the Toyota Matrix — bowing at the SEMA show later this month.(Click picture for larger view)Source: http://www.leftlanenews.com/pontiac-vib ... ngComments: Looks damn fine!
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

The pics of the 09 Matrix aren't released yet.I made an educated guess based on the fact that they removed 3 out of the main 4 exterior differences in the current model (cladding, roof rack, spoiler on the tailgate) - only the signature Pontiac fascia seems to remain....but you're right, it is conjecture at this point. I guess we'll know for sure at SEMA this year.
Looks good except for the headlights, and the grilles.I want more pics of the rear to see the tails. The rims look good, and it looks more aggressive.I'm curious on the powerplants they will use.

WOW!!! nice highlander... doh i mean Vibe. Looks a lil too toyota to me... body panels are big and flat looking.still nice and im guessing the engine will have about the same if not maybe 10 +/- more HP. but doubt it will be anything to google over....

so far this pic only makes me happier i didnt wait for an '09.....the front looks good to me but overall...especially the side view...looks so matrix....and i dont really like clear tailights...they remind me of the IMO horrible equinox tailights...and i hate that everyones designing cars with slimmer and slimmer windows...."why dont they just leave about 6 inches next time so that we can just about get our hands in there to provide patient care after a accident because people now are unable to fit their fat a$$es out the window...let alone be lifted out...lol...oh and i hope whoever is in charge of accessories doesnt completely forget about us older style vibes...cuz they should make more for us before getting to carried away with these new vibes....at least IMO....one last thought tooo doesnt it look like they sacrificed storage space behind the rear seats besides getting rid of roof rails?
I'm likin' it... and since I was planning on trading in Sputnik in 2008 anyway, this has been added to my list (and will probably get anyway despite having a "list"). Can't wait to see the official interior shots and specs.

I think I like it, but I want to see more before I start throwing my $0.02 around. More angles and maybe even a side by side with an older Vibe would be nice to see.

I like it. But other than the grille, it looks almost exactly like the current Matrix. That's not necessarily a bad thing. They are finally changing the design because they weren't satisfying their intended market. They wanted the Vibe and Matrix to be for mostly middle-class guys in their early 20s. They slowly found out that old people were buying them. So, my guess would be that the engine will be more powerful and not as centered on the economy factor that it is currently (hence the lack of roof rack). I'm hoping for the engine from the TC, and the Camry V6 for the GT
The GM Source or whatever description isn't that accurate. That is the 2009 Vibe GT according to General Motors. The original photo caption:Quote »All-new, but still retaining the original's blend of style, performance and versatility, the 2009 Pontiac Vibe also signals the return of the popular all-wheel drive and performance-oriented GT models (shown here). The 2009 Vibe will make its public debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show and will be available at Pontiac dealerships in early 2008. Oh, and if you guys are interested, one of our 'choppers took the liberty of giving the new Vibe a full color pallette. http://www.cheersandgears.com/...8&hl=

i'm gonna have to say ... yikes... at least until i see more pictures of it. gm has never been the best at taking great pictures of their cars. but i didn't like the odd interior (well, the dash/gauge cluster), and that exterior pic isn't helping.
