My mom's Vibe turned over 73,000 miles last Saturday coming home from Little Suamico, WI.

Mine has a little less than 300 miles to go before hitting 73,000.

2006 Vibe base with 397,000 km (246,684 miles). It is the best car I will ever own as it really didn't need any work other than gas, oil, and tires up until 350,000 km. The last 40,000 has been rough and I am now completing repairs on a weekly basis. I'd like to see another year and 45,000 km (28,000 miles) out of it but I'm doubtful it is going to make it.

The Vibe replaced a 1992 VW Golf Diesel with over 500,000 km (310,685 miles) but that car was a disaster from day 1. It was hard to maintain and it required a lot of maintenance as well as broken part replacement. You essentially had to rebuild that car every 200,000 km like clockwork.

I am not sure what to buy as my next mile eater. I have a 2013 Honda Civic Touring with 50, 000 km (31,000 miles) for a Sunday driver but it is a crap car car. It flexes like a rubber band and it's noisey.

I could buy a Toyota but they are only known for two things:
  • The ugliest cars on the road that just won't die; and
  • The never ending red tag sale advertising
Cheers, Steve

Just passed 111,111 miles. More importantly, my lifetime XM is now down to $4.12 a month and dropping. I'm hoping to see the day when it is down to $2 a month. Of course the car will have to be 17.5 years old when that happens. Will my Vibe make it to 2025 1/2?

Stupid European host site sometimes flips my images and no matter what I do they stay upside down :x Anyways this is from my work Van the other day which is why my Vibe still has some 25k miles on it.

I too am down to $4.xx per month and some change for the XM radio service since I bought my lifetime plan back in 2009. FYI ... My other three vehicles (G8Gt, Vibe for son, Silverado) all got XM renewed for the 6 month/$30 promo plan. I do this every six months and keep it affordable.

Turned over 100,000 miles last month- I usually keep Trip A on the odometer display, so I missed the obligatory 100k picture... :(

I've owned my '05 AWD since Feb. 2007, when I got her shipped from a dealer in West Virginia with 26k miles.

Hi everyone! My 04 base Vibe was running perfectly and had just hit 183,000 miles when it got shot (yes, you read that correctly) in the engine compartment. The insurance company totalled it, which broke my heart. Naturally, I went out and bought a used '09 Vibe that I found--good deal with decent miles (80,000). I hope it's just as much of a warrior as the '04 was.

Say what ??? :o Do you live in an area where bullets fly regularly? High crime area? What specific damage was done? I'll assume it cracked the engine block which is why it was totaled? An engine swap wouldn't have cost you much then you could still be driving it!

It was a totally freak/random thing. Car was parked on the driveway outside the house (suburban, low-crime area). There was a dispute in one of the houses across the street late at night and it spilled out into the street. Shots were fired, and the only thing that got hit (thank god) was my car. We've been in the neighborhood for several years, and this is the first thing like that that's ever happened.

The bullet went through the driver's side door and the lower dash before entering the front end of the car, where it either pinged around or fragmented. Regardless, it seemed to have struck a couple of things and both the police and the mechanic who looked at it advised me not to try to start the car, let alone drive it.

Ultimately the insurance company decided that the cost to fix/possibly replace the door and dash then diagnose everything in the front end that might have been damaged by the bullet or a bullet fragment was too high. We know for sure that the heater core and at least one brake line were damaged. I got a good settlement from insurance, and I knew that while the car was in good shape, a few repairs were coming (a wheel bearing, for example), so I decided to take that and put it toward the next Vibe.

I was at 187,747 when I got side swiped 2 weeks ago. I'm sure I would have gotten to 200k miles, but I can't imagine the other guy's insurance will want to have it fixed.

I haven't been as active over the past few years but wanted to share this milestone :D

Finally hit 300000km on the '06. It's not driven as much now a days (20k/yr) but it still runs great with no major issues. We have 2 cars and have talked about which one to replace next year -- the vibe or a 2010 caravan -- in the end we still love the vibe and would hate to see it go. A true testament to the quality of these hatchbacks! ;)

2004...236,000 miles, uses no oil, cold fall/winter starts have rattley valves, starter grind.
2009...157,000 miles, oil user everything else is like new. Oh..except that steering rattle. hard braking will make it chatter also. And this is not a safety issue?????

I bought my 2004 Vibe base with 17" rims new 13 years ago. I am at 188,500 miles now. I have taken great care of her, as you can see in the pic. Up to this point, I have had to make minimal repairs, and she still drives almost like when I bought her. The gas mileage has gone down, though. I used to get 27-30 MPG. Now, I get 23-25. I truly love my car. Obviously, many people love their Vibes, hence GenVibe and the cult following. My previous car was a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire GT, which was fun until the transmission blew and the a/c went. Wonder why I barely see any Sunfires on the road but I see a lot of Vibes ;)

My Envygreen 03 has tapped out at 322,000. It has been a great car, and taken my family and I, on adventures all over the US and Canada. 2nd transmission is now too noisy to trust, and with that many miles on the rest of the chassis, and a noticeable slow decline in power from the 1ZZ, I regretfully must part ways.

Nice looking Vibe! My mom and I are both former Sunfire owners turned Vibe owners too! I had an 02 Sunfire GT that I had bought brand new in November of 2002. I ended up selling it in June of 2008 and always regretted it. Back in February of this year, I happened upon it for sale semi-locally on Craig's List, so I bought it back! There are actually quite a few owners here who are former J-Body (Sunfires, Cavaliers, Sunbirds, etc) owners.

I see quite a few Sunfires around my area, but they've all seen better days. Fortunately Vibes aren't prone to bad rust like Sunfires which is a huge plus.

I'm currently sitting at about 153k miles on my '09 Vibe GT. I was driving 66 miles a day over most of the summer, and my family have driven the crap out of it.

Has anyone ever tried to get a Vibe into the Million Mile Club?

There's a guy over on the Facebook group who claims to have 1.5 million kilometers on his 1st Gen Base automatic (I believe original engine, but had replaced the trans with a used unit at some point). That translates to about 900K miles. That's the highest mileage vibe that I know about, but there are some others with amazingly high miles.

Keep up all the maintenance and I'm sure any Vibe could make it make a good run for it.

Okay lol. I was just wondering because that would be awesome. I'm pretty sure mine won't make it that far because I drive (More than a little) fast but... who knows?

2008 Vibe 1zz 5 spd

Tested when I purch used(@48k) as 56 imp mpg
Still getting 55 at 355k km -50% hwy /5.1L/100k
On a test run @ 80-85km/hr

Average daily 6.8L/100k

2nd set tires a year ago around 295k km

1 set front pads

Went to replace slipping clutch @ 330k - turned out to be 'crud' in grease at both ends of throw-out lever - changed it anyway - less than 1/4 gone

Regular oil/filter at 10k, cleaned & adj spark plugs twice so far

Every 60k or so, clean maf sensor, intake spray & soak, injector cleaner in 1/4 tank of 93 octane

Needs lifters adj soon - can hear them from time to time

All the intake cleaners seem to pooch my Cat at 340 k but save a bundle on fuel, so 1 cat

And just repl 10 yr old Battery this fall

If I felt like whining ... had to replace radio lamps twice

So my overall comment, I wish I'd found this car sooner ...

I just bought my 09 GT manual with like 48700. It was a TOAD (towed behind an RV) so the actual chassis mileage is probably about 10k more. Just turned over 50k after 3 weeks of ownership but I'm currently in Charlotte NC on a little road trip from central Florida so that's why. Looking forward to many years and miles more. 8-)

My 2006 GT hit 260K and is getting a new clutch. Small head gasket oil leak, but runs great otherwise. First time it hasn't passed smog, but fixable (like everything is with enough money). Hands down the best car I've owned. Looking to sell it, but reading all these great stories makes me want to keep it!

My 2005 just hit 215,000 miles. I bought it in 2006 (when it wasn't even a year old yet) after a travelling salesman put 40,000 miles on it in 9 months, so I'm averaging about 18,700 miles per year. I hope it'll last a LOT longer, but I've recently been discovering how many parts I should have replaced a long, long time ago but haven't.

I bought my '07 last fall with 149,000 miles. It now has 153,000. All the miles have been highway trips. I seldom drive around in the city.

I must say, I've been pleased with the gas mileage so far, mid to upper 30s consistently. Last weekend on a trip in the US Southwest, from CA to AZ, it was a perfect day, low 70s with calm winds, light traffic, no passenger or cargo load, and I drove 240 miles on six gallons of gas, hitting 40 mpg for the first time.

Bought my 2008 at 73,000 miles. Currently at 199,500 miles. I've replaced one exhaust manifold (that wasn't even that loud) and one intake gasket (threw the CEL but still ran great) in all this time of ownership. Everything else has been gas/oil changes/tires.

I just took full coverage off of her since it is $50 extra a month. Somehow vibes around here are still fetching a premium but I doubt my insurance company (progressive) would even give me enough to buy a 2008 with the exact options without a huge battle.... damn I wish Toyota made a decent hatchback still... the corolla iM is an insult....

Seriously??? You are running on OEM ignition coils, serpentine belt, alternator, water pump and shocks/struts?

I'm at 118,000 and won't put another cent into this car. While I don't mind throwing money into preventative maintenance items even before they go, my trust in this car making it to 200,000 has waned considerably. The car drinks (oil) like Charlie Harper. This will be both my last association with anything GM and Toyota.
At this point, I just want it to get me through one more cross country trip next year to my final resting place, where winter weather and road salt will never bother my future car again.
