Something told me that your Vibe was within a day or so of hitting the same mileage milestone as your moms. Here's to another 50k miles & more to both of you ;)

Yep, our mileage stays pretty close since we switch off which Vibe we take when go run errands or whatever.

100,000 miles should come around sometime in 2019 at our current pace :P.

On a bit of a side note, my dad's 2001 s10 turned over 300,000 miles last week! He's had it since the fall of 2000 when he got it brand new. No major repairs and fed conventional Penzoil just like the Vibes get. My parents and I have a pretty long history of getting brand new vehicles and getting above average mileage out of them without any major issues. I have no doubts the Vibes will carry on this tradition with ease!

Almost up to 20,000 miles. I think I'm piling up more miles on my bicycles these last three years than on the car. That little '08 is still like new. Holding up extremely well, too.

My old aluminum road bicycle is approaching 10,000 miles, since new in '06, will be over that mark by mid June or sooner if the weather ever gets better up here in Southern Maine. Cool and wet now. Maybe have 2,700-3,000 miles (must estimate due to computer odometer glitch) on the mountain bike in the last three of years and about 1,800 miles on the carbon road bike in that same time frame.

I was bummed a couple years ago when mine hit "12345" miles. Didn't have my camera with me and was on I-75 at the time. I'll be ready for the next sequential series which will be "23456" in a couple years :o

wow! straight flush!

i'm at around 246k right now. still running relatively well, at around 30mpg. a little more worse for the wear on the body, and replacing the charcoal canister/valves so its emissions ready

glad to see these vibes still going strong

Well, my Vibe is now five years plus a couple months old and is all the way up to 10,668 miles. Eat your hearts out.

Got a question for you: I stuck to the Owner's Manual while it was under warranty, but now that it isn't I've decided to go six months between oil changes. As little driving as I do, it doesn't make sense to me to even change it that often. How would you handle this were you in my shoes? Thanks guys and gals!

Here's what I was told and suggested by the Blackstone folks who do oil analysis. At MAXIMUM, regardless of mileage, change the oil every TWO years. If you running on synthetic then you have a little bit of cush and added protection. Surprisingly when I changed the oil in my 22 yr old F-150 which went 7 years between oil changes (6700 miles on conventional oil) there was minor internal wear present from the sample. My 2009 Vibe only has 3100 miles since the last oil change BUT 17 months of time. I will change it this fall before winter if it looks like it will see winter driving. Otherwise next spring for sure which will be the two year interval.

Thanks for this information, tpollauf. That's probably what guys and gals with antique and classic cars do with their show cars that aren't driven hardly at all.

well put! i was about to say that there was an interview with some auto big wig who admitted that changing the oil 'every 3000 miles' was a way to sell more oil.... or something like that.

my o4 has over 250k miles on it. still running pretty strong. last oil change was about 7 months ago. and maybe 10 months before that. i just check the oil and level every so often, and if its still relatively clear and not low, everything's fine.

And thanks to a recent recall performed on the car for the PCM, it runs like it has less than half that mileage.

176K and counting. Its hard to beleive by Jan I will be around 180K. I just replaced a frozen caliper but this car still runs great !!! I have decided that I will keep the Vibe until it dies. Theres no reason NOT to. Cant go wrong with a Corolla drivetrain. I have babied it and it has given me nothin but love back

You are definitely leading the 2nd gen pack as far as miles go! I'm curious to see whether or not the odometer will stop (like the 1st gens) when you hit 299,999...

I'm counting on that with my Vibe and my wife's Corolla, both with the 1ZZ. The Corolla hit 200K last year, but I'm not sure what it's up these days. Probably not more than 210K. It doesn't get the miles that it used to.

Well I haven't been on GenVibe in a long time, but I still have my '05 AWD (original owner). The odometer reads 86,668 now, but it's mainly pulling light duty these days (<50 miles/week, more once the snow flies). Other than regular oil changes, the only maintenance I've had to do is new tires (those OEM Goodyears sucked) and brake pads at ~50K miles. The car has never been into a shop or to the dealership; still has the original battery.

I'm thinking this will probably be the last year for the car...I'm ready to get something a little larger. I'm leaning towards a crew-cab Ram 4x4, but my wife is more enamored with the Durango, Acadia and Traverse. Being as we have a true need for AWD/4x4, the economical choice would be an Outback or Legacy (36/26 mpg...finally). Whatever it ends up being, the Vibe will be my trade-in.

PS: What ever happened to the guy who had close to 500K on his car? Is he still around? That'd be a great update...

I think you're referring to joejoev.

He made the following post in the "odometer stuck at 299,999 How to fix?" thread on 11.19.11...
joejoev wrote:As joatmon mentioned, SPECMO (specmo.com) in Madison Heights, MI offers calibration/repair services. They have a second location in Burton (near Flint). Assuming I make it that far, I may call upon them in a year or so to create an actual-mileage odometer when I lock up instrument panel #2. But I have another 83k to think aboot it. (That's right, kids! Do the math and you'll note I'm overdue to post the half million mile thread.)
According to his profile, he hasn't visited the site since 03.08.13.

His most recent post was the one partially quoted above on 11.19.11 :(.

An update would be great...

I say one of these days the two of you will turn over the EXACT mileage together at the exact time on the same road  Looking forward to a snapshot of "55555" in another week or so! Nice synchronization there ;)
