OK... I know I should just read the manual... but that's totally a last resort I've had my Vibe for a little over 2 months now and I still can't figure out how to turn on the high beams. What's the trick? I can flash them, but I just can't get the high beams to stay on I wasn't driving in the dark much, so I didn't really care, but now that winter is coming it may be more important to me

Hahahahahaha! Sorry. I laugh because I had the same problem when I first got my Vibe.Push your turn signal lever away from you to turn on the high beams and pull it towards you to turn them off.

Do you all ever just mess with things in your car to see what does what? lol guess I get that from my father, I get into my car and just mess with stuff to see what does what.
Having had a Geo Prism (the deluxe LSI hatchback, mind you) I am familiar with the quirk that Toyota engineered cars need the lever pushed forward instead of pulled back. Pulling back only flashes the brights.Of course, I figured it out rather quickly way back then. It didn't take 2 months and a message board.
I think it's something everyone can't figure out for a bit when they first need them. I know it took me a few minutes when I first needed them. Then the first time my girlfriend needed them, she thought they were broke, and just held the lever in until she got home. I have to laugh pretty damn hard at it when she told me about it.
The best part is the light stalk is labeled with instructions too... sorry man, I know you came to ask for assistance. But I got to point and giggle just a wee bit.Check out the "Getting to know your vibe" http://www.genvibe.com/images/...k.pdf Or as the folks on the support desk say "RTFM..."

my mom had trouble with the headlight controls when she borrowed the car one day. i always have the lights on(i love the way cars look when the fogs are on too). i got outta the car outside my job w/o turnin the car off, and she just hopped outta the passenger seat and drove away, only to stop back by my job later tellin me that she kept hearin this continual beeping that she wasn't used to hearing(i've got a GT, so the damn thing beeps for everything lol). she was like "i thought it might have been for the lights, but i put the lil thing all the way up to the top where it said off, and it just kept beepin" lol i told her that she was only turnin the dome lights off, and to remember it's a toyota, so it's the same as her truck. lol moms are great.

Haha! Thanks everyone! Yes... I am definitely a slow learner... it never occured to me to try pushing on it. I never read the manual for my IPod and it took me a year and a co-worker before I discovered the "hold" button on the top! That was an exciting discovery
I get the "my washer fluid isn't working on my new car" all the time. Turns out they were pulling the wiper lever instead of pushing the button on the end (subaru models) or the "my parking lights won't turn off, I've had to boost my car all week and finally I pulled the fuse" and all I do is go out there and turn off the parking light switch. Yes that happens about once a week or more. Your not the only one
