NEW VIBE..... WHAT DO I DO!!!!

Post by Markt2717 »

Well... needless to say i got a new vibe. A black 2006 Base vibe. With sound package, 16 inch rims, Exaust tip, ABS. XM satalite, Sirius Satilite, I got such a basic vibe, cause they are more coustomizable anyway, I want to keep my warranty, but i want MORE out of my vibe. i want to lower it, and cold air, cams, maybe a blower.. i dont know. since you guys are the experts, and i hope to become an expert at the vibe one day... help me out!! Is chipping a vibe ok?? i saw a chip for around 25 dollars, and i was kinda skeptical. here is the websight.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem does this work? or does it just warp the current or something, cause its definatly not an expensive chip. its a resistor am i correct? thats bad? i think i need to know what my first step in making this race-able, and what kinds of upgrades voids my warranty. Thanks for reading this.. Mark

Welcome to GenVibe!Basic Mods: Don't bother with the Ebay chips they are all junk.I would start with an Cosmo CAI('05-'06) and a Magnaflow Catback exhaust. Then lower it and get some nice wheels.Don't forget about tint too.You shouldn't have any warranty problems with the above mods.Chips: Get a Unichip or Camcon if you are going to stay N/A. E-manage if you are going to go turbo or S/C with the above mods.As for a blower: If you get the GM Performance Supercharger and have them install it it will be warrantied I think until your 3yr./36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty is up. You may want to verify that. A turbo will not be warrantied.Cams will not be warrantied, period.Enjoy your stay!

Welcome to genvibe. To add to Bluecrush's comment.Exhausts according to pontiac, will not affect the warranty as long as they are bolted on. Welding them will void the warranty, this is based on my sales guy.

Welcome!!! I also recommend all the mods bluecrush said. I have a TRD cai, the toyota matrix is the same as the vibe so all of TRD's matrix parts fit.

i have decied that im going to hold off on the exaust, until i get my basics... cold air, springs, and stuff. i was wondering where i could get some decent lowering springs, and if i did find some.... what else would i need to put on to make it stable and safe ect...... without voiding the warranty

strut bar and depending on the brand anywhere from 50 bucks to 200.Hotchkis front and rear sway bars... like 150 or 200. dont think they will void if they are replacing stock sways... but would double check.

NOTE ABOUT CAI: I didn't see that you have an '06 so your only option for an intake, at this time, is the Cosmo Racing CAI or SR due to the change from a cable throttle system to an electronic throttle system. Only problem with that is they are constantly out of stock and people have waited 1-2 months after paying before they received it.Someone else has installed the Weapon-R Secret intake SR on their '06 also with no problems. I can't recall who it was though.

McKinney! I am from Allen and will be back there at the end of the month! I can't wait to get back there! If you want to mod your car w/out pissing away the warranty and get noticeable gains performance-wise, I say just go short-ram or cold-air intake, exhaust, lowering, and rims/tires. Those are probably the most noticeable modifications you could ever make. Welcome to the site!

I was home and in Plano with my Xtreme 3-window that was blacked out and when I got pulled over they gave me crap about it.Quote, originally posted by BlueCrush »As for a blower: If you get the GM Performance Supercharger and have them install it it will be warrantied I think until your 3yr./36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty is up. I thought I was being "SAFE" by getting the GM supercharger, but later found out b/c I didn't buy it through them and have it installed by them, that when I snapped a rod they refused to fix it. I had to pay completely out of pocket for a new engine and had to install it myself!

Anything under the hood you have to make sure it is year specific. Just about anything else will fit all years (i.e. springs, wheels, exhaust, etc...). You DO need to make sure they are model specific (i.e. Base or Xr, not GT, XRS, or AWD)!

Best to take it off if you ever have to take your car in for service, especially if it's anything under the hood. They are SUPPOSED to isolate the problem before blaming anything, but a lot of times they will automatically jump to the mods you have and tell you they won't cover it under warranty. Take it from me, I KNOW!

welcome to the site... yeah that chip looks jus a lil too suspicious for my taste. know this: when it comes to ANY car part, or anything else for that matter, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. i don't know a lot about the vibe either, except that it's one of my fav cars to drive (surpassed only by my old 90 300ZX). i was gonna warn you about under hood mods, but it looks like i've been beat. so i'll just say that i totally agree with everyone. definitely keep whatever you plan on replacing stored in your garage or wherever in case you need service. it's true, a lot of dealers will try damn near anything and everything they can to keep you from getting proper warranty work, and the ones that don't just jump to conclusions are never close enough to do people like us any good. it sucks and damron, i'm sorry to hear about your troubles with your vibe, but it's coo that you're sharing your experiences with us so we (hopefully) don't make the same mistake(s). 'preciate it
