Re: End of '07 Vibe era

Samcrac on youtube gets wrecked cars all the time (and a bunch of others).

Frankly, unless you know someone with a body shop, cheap, or have a lot of spare room, I'd just get another Vibe.

It all depends on how much time and skill you have, vs money.

It could even be corrosion on the cable at the starter solenoid. Almost nobody actually looks at that one, they always focus on the big cables.

OK. So I had to drive the 2004 Vibe GT last night (127k miles) to a local beer/wine tasting festival (2009 Vibe Gt had a dead battery from not driving it recently :o ). Anyways this car was officially baptized with a dose of salt/brine as we got 3" of snow and had to drive it. 15 years or so o...

I have one set of wheels. I also have a full sized spare (made from the one unwarped wheel from my first Vibe). Re: 2004 Vibe OEM Wheels Pitting & Cracking

It's mostly moisture being trapped under the paint. Aluminum is extremely sensitive to oxygen. If it didn't corrode so fast, it would burst into flames in air. So, as the previous poster said, you can salvage them. You'll have to completely strip the old ones, clean off the residue, and either lacqu...

Wouldn't it be easier to just hit up a salvage yard and see if one of the vibes still has a key available, and then just abscond with the entire ignition section? If you then want to make it harder to steal, just put a stack of toggle switches across the dash board, and label them things like "...

That's the full harness - https://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/pont ... 70281.html

The rockauto link was just for the connector you need to attach to the blower, to replace the burned out connector.

If you can figure out how to pull the XM receiver and use it with another radio, you could build it into a stereo box. One radio, two speakers, an antenna, a wooden box, and a DC power supply, and you have a nice stereo system that doesn't cost much. When I was younger, they used to install that sor...

I'd rather replace a wire connector than pull that blasted motor out (again). It's not really that difficult, but if you aren't up to trying, then knowing your limitations is good. A car alarm shop might even be able to do it, but most _shops_ that will do it will charge close to the same sort of la...

Re: How dangerous is this BURNED a/c blower motor CABLE

I wouldn't be concerned about the wire. I'd be concerned about the _connector_. That's resistance/heat damage at the connector. usually caused by corrosion on the connectors raising the resistance, then a high/continuous draw from the motor (lots of reasons for those) causing the heat to rise to the...

It's always hard to say goodbye to an old friend. My 2003 was passed on at 298k (miles), and replaced with a 2007 with 135k. I figured that for 4k, I'd get another 140k reasonably trouble-free miles. (So far, I've put 26k on it with no major parts replacements).
