Edited:The official capacity for the original roof rails is 75 lbs ('03-'04). I don't know what the specs are for the new crossbars, but I would imagine it's similar. Several folks have loaded up more than that with kayaks/canoes and such.

There are a handful of vehicles larger than the Vibe that I'd consider (Dodge Magnum, Acura RDX, 2008 Suburu Tribeca, Toyota RAV4), but I've been so pleased with my experience with the Vibe that I'll likely stick with a sports wagon or sedan for my next vehicle.

If you wife will be working downtown, then I highly recommend the Metro Park N Ride system. The buses are nice and the cost is more than offset by the convenience of not having to fight traffic and pay for parking. Most riders are professionals, so you don't really have to worry about someone passin...

Just saw this post...We sometimes use a Yakima Space Cadet (15 cu ft) and it rides fine. Only used it a couple times on the Vibe; usually it sits on our RAV4.The standard cross bars work fine. I do have to disconnect the bullet FM antenna, but we usually listen to XM or my PDA/jukebox on road trips ...

Well, most of the processing goes to recovering older audio (phonograph and tape) and I've got about 500 albums and maybe another 200 tapes (mostly mixes). However, the Sonic Holography is on almost all the time; that's a cool little box.

My first set of AM tires were Kuhmo Ecsta ASX and I loved the handling, but didn't realize they would wear so fast (got 31K on them). I know that's above average for those tires, but it was still a bit of a shock.
