Although I have no Gen2 experience, I'm guessing dust shield replacement on REAR wheels is fairly simple. I'm also guessing that running the car without REAR dust shields isn't a big deal. Obviously, they should be repaired/replaced as soon as practical but I wouldn't lose any sleep.

Did you test the fuses in the interior fuse panel - it's located under the dash above the drivers knees. I had a similar situation with my 05 Base when the AM1 fuse blew in the interior fuse panel.

I never had one go bad, but I'm guessing a trans-axle bearing bad enough to be noisy, would also have very noticeable "play". Did you check for play or movement in the wheel bearing and CV joints?

Thanks for the education everyone! I had no idea there are strategies to parking a Micro-car. I opted to take a close-up of the rear to avoid the license plate. A longer shot would have shown how the car was angled and poorly centered. More Stoli than strategy it seemed.

That means the obstructed line is the EVAP line from the tank. It allowed the air (fumes) to escape as the fuel ran into the tank. Normally the fumes should be swallowed by the charcoal canister. Vibes do hold up extremely well. Unless I was driving across the country, I wouldn't even consider replacing these parts! Brand new parts fail with some regularity - not to mention incidental "Mechanic" induced failures.
