My guess it is over the DBW change over. That's why it didn't effect the 4WD/AWD and the 2zz 05+ What s the DBW changer over? Since GM was bankrupt they might have been able to dodge any payment responsibility. Anyway, was there ever any proof that the unintended acceleration was caused by a defect?

I've driven cars and motorcycles for over 54 years, Never turned a rotor, never had a drum ground. Just put in new shoes or pads, drive aware for a few miles. Never had a problem. Mailing from dealer today - coupon for $99 per axle for brakes. But I am sure that is just for pad replacement - any calipers that need work or replacement would be a lot extra. And of course the rotors often need to be machined.

They will likely bill you a half hour's labor (maybe even an hour if that's the minimum) even though it takes a pro 10 minutes. If you are the DIY type, do it yourself. If I spent a lot of time in my vehicle it might be worth it - but at about 600 miles a month I can put up with something a little less costly. I'd rather spend the difference on a better class of restaurants.

Has anyone mentioned the Matrix? Seems like a logical option. I've had my eyes on the newer Subaru Impreza Hatchbacks too, as they have similar cargo space and better MPGs. In my case it is a choice of live with it or pay a dealer or independent garage to replace it. I'm 71 and wasn't all that handy when I was 21, or 31 etc.

Have a 2007 Chrysler T&C only 29,000 miles. Suddenly developed a loud approx 1 sec shrill buzz when locking the doors - seems to be from the front passenger door. No noise when unlocking. Any idea what this might be?

I had assumed the Buick Encore was a hatchback - learned something today. The Mazda CX-5 and Ford Escape seem significantly larger than the Vibe but I never actually compared the specs. I saw a Hyundai small hatchback when I was out today - that might also be a Vibe replacement.

Thanks for the info - the VVT feature is probably so common that it doesn't merit a mention - like saying "fuel injected" - no one uses a carborator anymore.
