never messed with a unichip so can't say first hand, but a search here for topic titles that contain the word unichip turned up a number of threads, and one common theme among them was people emailing unichip to get the info they needed. The other thing I noticed in those threads was that I don't th...
I haven't been looking at available cars for a bit now, but one thing I saw doing a quick check was that the Trax is supposedly rated at 32 mpg highway (7.35 l/100km) where the Corolla hatchback is rated at 41 mpg highway (5.74 l/100km) I don't know if an EV fits your circumstances, but that seems t...
I hope its that easy on a Vibe, the procedure for an 03 Matrix involves what looks like a complete dash disassembly The procedure PDF is 750K, and although this site's attachment section says file size limit is 1 MB, it still says the attachment is too large to upload ( https://forums.genvibe.com/ph...
Having to wiggle the turn signal lever to get hi beams to go off sounds like there is something wonky in the turn signal lever. There was a problem with some early 03 Matrixes, and to a lesser extent some 03 Vibes where the turn signal lever could cause the headlights to come on randomly at night wh...
at night, the light sensor in the left corner of the dash top will cause the headlights to come on full. when it senses enough light (day), it should revert back to DRL, as long as the headlight switch isn't set to headlights. If you set the switch to off and still get full headlights in the day, ma...
I don't have a Vibe to check, but from this picture out of a 2003 Vibe factory service manual, it looks to me like it's in the engine compartment mounted to the firewall
Surprised that there's no +12V going to the mirror, but found https://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=45437 where Macgyver had to run a 12V line up the A pillar on his 09. Does the A pillar trim pop off and reveal the airbag inside or is it integral to the A pillar trim? Any way to run a w...
just to follow up from a couple of years ago, bar keeper's friend (bkf) really doesn't do much, any effect is really short lived. Yesterday I worked the headlights on my truck, used the sylvania headlight restoration kit. I picked that one because it came with a UV blocking clear coat, and a lifetim...
That sounds awful. Its a shame, and looking at internal wiring harnesses isn't something I look at when buying a used car, I just assume it hasn't been frankensteined. Years ago car wiring was pretty limited, modern cars have so much electrical and electronic stuff that the wiring harnesses are comp...
Welcome to genvibe! By "internal driver's door seal" do you mean the rubber part that is attached to the door, or the one that goes around the door opening? Also, what year do you have, 03-08 or 09-10? I had a one of the ones that are attached to the body, the door frame, wear out while st...
Welcome to genvibe! Hope the rumble was just the loose plastic that you fixed A grinding on a turn could be a CV joint, but I've also seen a lot of Vibes with holes worn in the fender liners from tires I don't know much about the Vibes traction control system, but the owners manual says the light wi...
Hi guys Congratulations on the exciting news of expecting a baby! Damian Xavier and Tiana Maydene are both lovely name choices. Damian Xavier has a strong and sophisticated ring to it, while Tiana Maydene sounds elegant and graceful. FYI, its an old thread, DamianTiana could have a driver's license...
OK, so due to many factors I wasn't able to look at a Vibe headlight yesterday. Do you have the dorman stuff yet, and if so, does the back of the package provide any legend for the wire colors? I can't find anything online from Dorman that shows that. However, looking at tpollauf's pic and comparing...
What happens after 299,999 miles is there a way to reset it or does it stop accumulating miles> How do you tabulate miles after this mileage? It seems like the cluster internally keeps counting, but the display never goes past 299,999. After that, most folks track mileage with one of the trip meter...
What pictures? Here's a portion of the matrix repair manual, out of a very long PDF on transfer case overhaul. However, this shows the location of the two plugs necessary to change the xfer case oil remove the #2 plug, which is the fill hole. Remove the drain plug and drain the oil. When drained, r...
I get them too. Not always, perhaps only early in a visit. Seems to have started recently, although I can't say a specific date. They can be a slight annoyance, but maybe they pay more than the inline ads, and if that's what it takes to keep the site profitable enough to keep it online, then its wor...
Well, that wiring diagram I posted doesn't seem right, as it shows four wires going to a three wire connector, so ignore that I found this pic online of a standard H4 socket headlight2.jpg I had a spare 9003 headlight bulb and tested it with a 12V power supply, and the pinout in that diagram is corr...
Not sure how much a wiring diagram will help though. Here's the relevant part from the 04 Matrix manual headlight.jpg I expect the wire colors are the same in Vibes, and if so the diagram shows the +12V side of the bulbs are the same colors for both low and high beam, red with white stripe for the l...
This summer the news often covers poor air quality in the US from Canadian wild fires. So far, I've only had one bad day where I live, could see the smoke in the air looking at stuff 30 feet away. Found the US EPA has a handy interactive air quality map at https://gispub.epa.gov/airnow/?showgreencon...

I will wait for more updates with this post. Waiting for other's opinions and responses too.
I'm not sure waiting for updates on this is practical. Its been 12 years since this thread was updated, and 6 years since the Bad Vibe last posted , and that was about parting out his Vibe
Sounds strange. Pics would help. You can upload pics here, but there's a ~1MB file size limit, and modern digital cameras make file sizes bigger than that, so you'd have to either crop the pic own or resize it to reduce the file size
Might be best to check junkyards for those parts. Any from 05-08 Vibes will fit your 07. There's a searchable database of junkyard parts at https://www.car-part.com/ that's pretty handy
Another long shot, but I had a relative's matrix suffer a failed upper motor mount, so bad that when the engine was under enough torque (accelerating), it would shift and open an exhaust joint. Found it by gunning the engine in gear with the brake pressed hard (not moving) and hood open, kinda scary...
I don't know why the original one broke. I guess it could be coincidence after 20 years, or maybe he was extra brutal. I stalled my 03 5 speed more than I'd like to admit In the 03 Matrix parts pdf it shows a bunch of different axles, even different ones for with or without ABS, although I don't kno...
can't remember for sure, but I think different 03 Vibe transmissions might have slightly different CV axle lengths, and perhaps your new one was a little shorter than it should have been and got popped when taking a hard turn.
I'd say its 17104-22110 started with page 7 of http://www.genvibe.com/images/misc/manuals/matrix_parts_catalog.pdf, matches info at https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/toyota__/Exhaust-Manifold-MANIFOLD-SUB---ASSEMBLY--E-MANIFOLD--EXHAUST-Exhaust-Manifold/3906587/1710422110.html Sucks though, looks l...
Welcome to genvibe Hard to say without hearing it, and hard to isolate when it only happens when the car is moving (accelerating in gear). Nice job trying it without the serpentine belt, that eliminates most of the usual suspects, and having it relate to engine speed and not vehicle speed eliminates...
Gas has come down lately. I paid 2.79 for regular cash price, 2.89 credit. Most stations around the western suburb of Houston are 2.89 - 3.09 for regular cash, and .10 - .20 higher for credit. Very few gas stations around me have higher price for credit. although some offer discount for using their...
Pull the relay, and with the ignition on (engine need not be running) use a multimeter to check that you have 12V between the relay socket marked 12V from fuse and the battery negative terminal. If you have that, then you can use a bent paper clip or a pair of needle nose pliers or a scrap piece of ...
You never said what year you had, so assuming 03-08. If 09 to 10, this may not apply. There are a number of things that can prevent 12V getting to the clutch. A lot has been discussed above and in https://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=37869 There is a clutch relay in the underho...
A bunch of news stories lately about car makers dropping AM radios from new cars. Seems like the most often used justification is that electric cars generate interference, which AM is susceptible to. I live in a rural area, not many FM stations, and the AM stations are either all talk or extreme rel...
I,m planning to have him just change the O Ring for the timing chain tensioner. Toyota dealer says on the 05 corolla there is two different O Rings. To make things as risk free as possible how about just changing the O Ring and not the tensioner itself. Any one had luck like that. ... Also it will ...
welcome to genvibe A first step would be to figure out and solve the problem where the battery tie down keeps coming loose. Could be it just needs to be tightened, or the hooked bottom of the rod isn't connecting where it should, that hole for the rod can be hard to see. Not sure what fault in the b...
welcome to genvibe! odd that it would pop up when only replacing the head unit. Perhaps the new one is more noise sensitive than the previous one. If the noise is coming in the power line, you might try wrapping the power wires around a ferrite core, or putting a capacitor between the power leads, c...
A relative with an 03 Matrix who lives multiple states away had a power steering line fail, and ran it dry to the point the pump ate itself, wouldn't support the serpentine belt, and he had to take it to a shop for an expensive repair. A month later he came to visit, said the car was making a strang...
I'm not interested in the Vibe or differential, but it might get you more interest if you said where you were and a ballpark price you're hoping for. I see a previous post where you were somewhere in Kentucky four years ago. Also, zbyers says the genvibe facebook group gets a lot more traffic than t...
Welcome to genvibe! I only see one wire /connector and that is the one that is connected to the alternator. Is that what you used? And how did you do it? Use multimeter or connect the wire to the battery? There is a wire that runs to the AC compressor, as shown in the attached images from a 2003 Vib...
Welcome to genvibe! oddly enough, the reverse of this came up last year, in https://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=534076 where Lawsonland put an 03 door on a 2008, and found the wiring different. Lawsonland ended up swapping the door's internal wiring harness and lock mechanism from the ...
