Now onto the wiring portion of your problem. Ladder diagram clearly shows both sensors being THREE wire !!! Also the troubleshooting pages may be beneficial to you in solving the problem. Interesting story with a happy ending. The "smell from the heater" could be a common problem with our Vibe's ventilation system. My 2009 Vibe GT all of a sudden is bringing in "oil burnt air" into the ventilation system ONLY when stopped (red light, train, congested traffic, etc....

If you look around where the key is inserted into the steering column and see that the outer ring around where the key goes in is made of metal , then the car does not have the key transponder.
